And when it comes to Christmas in The City, your first stop simply has to be King George Square. Between the oh-so-captivating City Hall Lights and the iconic, sky-high Christmas tree, King George Square is serving up daily holiday delights.

Next stop: Brisbane Arcade. The City’s oldest and grandest shopping mall is once again turning its heritage archways into a Christmas wonderland. Between shopping their designer boutiques and artisan jewellers, take in the dazzling display of over 100,000 LED lights, 12,000 meticulously placed baubles, and more. A whimsical holiday escape and a great backdrop for an Insta pic or two, Brisbane Arcade is a must-see Christmas destination.

A wander through the twilight Christmas markets

Nothing says Christmas quite like strolling through a night market. So grab your gal pals and spend an hour or two exploring specialist holiday markets in The City – so chic, so festive. From 10 to 12 December, examine homemade trinkets, peruse artisan goods, and nibble on festive, flavourful bites to your heart’s content at the Festive Markets at Queen’s Wharf. Surrounded by gifts, homewares, and handmade goodies galore, enjoy live entertainment, bespoke festive eats, and pop-up bars, making for the ultimate Christmas night out. Warning: you’ll feel as though you stepped right out of a Christmas movie.

For another festive affair, mosey on down to King George Square for BrisStyle’s Twilight Market. For two nights only, 14 November and 19 December, enjoy an evening under the twinkling stars, wandering through local artisan goodies just waiting to make their way under your Christmas tree. You bring the girls – they bring the vibes, the gifts, and the good times.

A festive Friendsmas feast

Get that group chat pumping and celebrate the holiday season in style. With plenty of places to celebrate under our glorious city lights, why not toast to another year of friendship with a festive feast in The City? Gather your gals for a sunset drink with sparkling river views along Eagle Street Pier. Grab a signature spritz at Babylon, a classic cocktail at Riverbar, or a glass of red at the revamped Madame Wu – you really can’t go wrong. A dazzling light show

‘Tis the season for unforgettable experiences, and The Enchanted Garden definitely fits the bill. One of Brisbane’s most magical light shows returns, illuminating Roma Street Parkland every night from 21 November to 20 December 2025. Wander through twinkling trees and captivating soundscapes, complete with a little bit of Christmas whimsy. Enchanted Garden

In another fantastical festive offering, Sono Lumo returns to The City with another audiovisual extravaganza. Where Christmas traditions meet cutting-edge technology, watch as the Queen’s Wharf Brisbane transforms into a magical Christmas festival of sound and light. In a hybrid for the ages, enter a steampunk-inspired world, complete with electro-infused tunes, live performers, interactive set pieces, plus curated bars and food trucks. From 10 to 21 December (excluding 15 and 16 December), this unmissable show is one that the girls will bond over for years to come.

A shop on the mall 

Between social engagements galore and getting a gift for that someone who insists they “don’t want anything” for Christmas, we all know the holiday season calls for shopping. Because though we might not know exactly what to get that co-worker for Secret Santa, one thing is for sure: you will find what you’re looking for in The City. Love a late-night browse? With Friday late-night trading and extended hours in the lead up to Christmas, The City is a gift-giver’s paradise.
