Brisbane Street Art Festival Is Turning The City Into A Canvas

Spray It, Don't Say It

By Natalie McGowan | 23rd April 2024

The streets of Brisbane are about to become a whole lot more colourful! Why, you ask? Well, because Brisbane Street Art Festival is returning for its ninth year with an exciting program in tow.

From Saturday, 4 May to Sunday, 19 May, over 20 featured artists will be painting the town red (and green, and blue…you get it), using the streets of Brisbane as their canvas. International talents and incredible local artists alike will be revitalising some of Brisbane’s iconic locations with stunning public art and murals, including five large-scale murals at Howard Smith Wharves.

But don’t just admire the professionals’ work – why not get amongst it yourself? With a variety of workshops, masterclasses, and talks tailored to aspiring artists, there’s always something new to discover. From graffiti writing workshops and aerosol masterclasses to street art cycling tours and panel discussions, there’s plenty on offer for the public to get involved in.

Kicking off the 2024 Brisbane Street Art Festival with a bang is the Festival Launch Party, which will be held at the new multi-arts warehouse space, Superordinary, with tickets available for purchase here. The venue will also host the festival’s highlight exhibitions – the No Expectations First Nations exhibition and the Within These Walls exhibition. Fancy a gander at some of our extraordinary local artists’ work? These exhibitions will be available for public viewing daily between 8am and 2pm.

And let’s not forget the grand finale! Felons will be hosting the Brisbane Street Art Festival Closing Party, where you can join the artists for a boogie and a brew to celebrate the end of the two-week art extravaganza. Tickets to the closing party are available here.

So, Brisbanites, save the dates and prepare yourself for a fortnight of amazing events, educational talks, hands-on workshops, and inspiring artwork. Plus, be sure to keep an eye out for Brisbane’s vibrant new street art.
