Another May, another fabulous racing season kicking off – The Star Stradbroke Season is back for 2025, and Brisbane Racing Club is turning up the glamour once again. A highlight of Brisbane’s social calendar, this six-week celebration fuses the adrenaline of live racing with all the sophistication of high fashion, fine food, and unforgettable entertainment. Across six standout race days, thousands will gather for what is undoubtedly a pinnacle of Queensland’s winter festivities.
If you’re new to the carnival, expect to be swept up in the buzz and high-energy atmosphere from the moment you arrive. With over $20 million in prize money up for grabs, the stakes are high and the competition fierce, attracting the very best in Australian thoroughbred racing. But this isn’t just about the horses – it’s the perfect excuse to dress to the nines and soak up the very best of Brisbane’s sunny winter days.
In fact, at Brisbane Racing Club, it’s fair to say the racing and the spectacle that surrounds it go hand in hand. The fashion is daring, the racing is elite, and the hospitality is simply top-tier.
The season kicks off on 3 May with Sky Racing Guineas Day at Eagle Farm and runs through to the grand finale on 14 June – The Star Stradbroke Day – which features Queensland’s most prestigious race.
Each event promises a packed program, blending some of Australia’s highest-rated Group racing with an electric carnival atmosphere. Trackside DJs, acoustic sets, and vibrant crowd energy ensure it’s just as thrilling for first-timers as it is for seasoned racegoers.
Style takes centre stage at the Place Ascot Fashions on the Field, hosted across Ladbrokes Derby Day (31 May), Seven Oaks Day (7 June), and The Star Stradbroke Day (14 June). With themes spanning from monochrome elegance to pastel daydreams, fashionistas will be vying for tens of thousands of dollars in prizes (and plenty of bragging rights).
On the culinary front, Executive Chef John Felesina curates a menu as memorable as the main event. Whether you’re grazing on gourmet canapés, enjoying a lavish long lunch in a private suite, or raising a glass of bubbly in the Champagne Bar, the food and drink offerings are just as headline-worthy.
And, as we all know, the photos are what make an outing truly worthwhile. From the magazine cover model photo booth to the larger-than-life inflatable snow globe and the timeless backdrop of heritage-listed Eagle Farm, there are plenty of ways to capture your day in style. Remember: Instagram always eats first.
With the magnetic Olympic gold medallist Shayna Jack acting as this year’s ambassador – and our striking cover model this month – her genuine love of horses and sport, as well as her poise, determination, and resilience, make her the perfect embodiment of what Brisbane Racing Club and the carnival stand for.
So, whether you’re there for the fashion, the food, the photo ops, or that heart-pounding dash to the finish line, The Star Stradbroke Season is where it all comes together.
Let the season begin.
