Broadway’s Favourite Ghost Is Back: Beetlejuice Returns To QPAC
Say it 3 times
By Kate Spence | 3rd November 2025Who said the spooky season stops now? Hold onto your black and white stripes, Brisbane… we’ve heard your calls. Your favourite ghost is creeping his way back into the coveted QPAC next Winter, and he’s bringing Broadway royalty along for the ride.
Come June 2026, Beetlejuice The Musical will resurrect its gloriously ghoulish energy on the Lyric Theatre stage for a hauntingly good time.
So… what is Beetlejuice
Following the storyline of Tim Burton’s 1988 cult classic, Beetlejuice The Musical is reimagined with extra sass, superb musical tunes, and gothic glam. It’s a chaotic, laugh-out-loud romp through life, death, and the afterlife – complete with all things exorcisms, love, and a killer house renovation gone wrong. IYKYK.
The tale follows Lydia Deetz, a misfit teenager obsessed with death, who teams up with a pair of recently deceased ghosts and a pinstriped, morally questionable demon named Beetlejuice to scare off her insufferable parents. What follows is a supernatural spectacle of songs, ghosts, and one seriously unhinged party in the Netherworld. What’s not to love?

Who’s haunting the stage
None other than US Broadway sensation Andy Karl will be leading the charge. Best known for his work in Moulin Rouge, Pretty Woman, and everyone’s favourite, Legally Blonde, he’s now donning the iconic striped suit and witty charm as Beetlejuice. Karl will perform alongside his fiancée, Elise McCann, returning as the adorably neurotic Barbra Mainland.
The powerhouse couple will also be joined by fan favourites from Melbourne’s season, including Karis Oka as the gothic teen Lydia Deetz, Rob Johnson as Adam Maitland, Erin Clare as Delia Deetz and Tom Wren playing Charles Deetz.

As for some homegrown representation – Brisbane talent, Angelique Cassimatis, will once again light up the underworld as the beloved, Miss Argentina.
The award-winning talent doesn’t stop there; Beetlejuice The Musical comes to life under the direction of two-time Tony Award winner Alex Timbers (the visionary behind Moulin Rouge). Not to mention the show’s cheeky, toe-tapping score crafted by Australia’s own, Eddie Perfect. Add Connor Gallagher’s lively choreography, and Kris Kukul’s musical magic, and you’ve got a production that’s as clever, chaotic and captivating as Beetlejuice himself.
In short, it’s Broadway meets brilliance… with a touch of green and pizzazz.
