Sweet V-Day Offers In Brisbane City

Feel the love!

By Fiona Williams | 11th February 2021

We’re calling it! Brisbane is The City of Love this February. Whether it’s cocktails with the crew or a romantic riverside rendezvous with your significant other, there are so many places to fall in love with all over again.

Galentine’s Day

Get ready for Galentine’s day – the offical day to shower your besties in love and care (all with drinks and dinner, of course!). Find both a fun and intimate setting for your posse at the leafy rooftop bar of Sixteen Antlers with boutique beers, colourful cocktails, quality wines as well as a delectable tapas menu. Or, have you missed a much needed overseas trip this year? Whisk your crew to the San Sebastian inspired Alba Bar & Deli tucked away in Burnett Lane to discover the freshest Spanish menu in town. However, if something with a French twist is the way to your heart and you have a penchant for bubbles and scones, then high tea at Customs House is always a treat. With a view of the Story Bridge and a glass of Louis Roederer Brut Premier Champagne in hand, say cheers to another year of fabulous friendships.

They say great friendships are made in wine bars and we don’t disagree with this sentiment from Grape Therapy one bit. Hidden amongst the busy city streets, the moody setting is perfect for intimate chats, great wine, and the sounds of jazz. It all depends on your gaggle, of course, and on the other end of the spectrum is WET Deck at W Brisbane. With its monochrome motif filling the tropical pool area, cocktails are a specialty here along with exceptional views of Brisbane’s South Bank so you can sip in style.

Head to Grape Therapy for two glasses of Champagne plus any pizzas to share for $49 (valued at $57). Book directly here and enter “FEBRUARY LOVE BIRDS” code.

Dinner for two

There is an exceptional collection of romantic restaurants to satisfy every taste bud in The City, so consider this your dinner date go-to list! With its modern take on Chinese cuisine, plush décor and elevated dining, Donna Chang is a Style favourite, and for good reason. With the 2020 One Chef’s Hat Good Food Guide Award and a string of other accolades, good food and a great time is a given here. However, if your love language includes anything from Italy, COPPA perched on Eagle Street Pier offers a Mediterranean feast perfect for any occasion. Or maybe you have been dreaming of Paris? As the city of love with charming French culture, it makes complete sense to make a booking at French bistro and wine bar Green Glass this Valentine’s Day. With all the haute culinary touches, each bite is carefully curated by their adoring team.

A little closer to home is Walter’s Steakhouse bringing all the timeless charm to downtown Brisbane. If your significant other can’t go past a good steak, Walter’s is known for serving a dry aged porterhouse like no other. Make sure you arrive early to enjoy a drink at the bar. And finally, there’s Madame Wu, which is known for their bountiful banquet menu that’s both exciting and elegant to enjoy, alongside a delightful sip from their resident sommelier and mixologist.

Treat yourself at Madame Wu to the ‘Date Night Special’: two banquets and two cocktails for $150 plus a Valentine’s Day ‘Love Potion Number 9’ cocktail for $15. Book here.

First date

Make it a date to remember with this exciting array of unique bars across The City. Not only was it named whiskey bar of the year in 2019, but Death & Taxes in Burnett Lane is a wild underground of moody interiors and carefully curated flavours for you to sip through. A mix of sumptuous leather booths and 100-year-old wooden floorboards makes it an other-worldly escape. Heritage bar The Gresham should also be on your list when the occasion arises, with its old-world charm and some of the greatest selection of rums, whiskeys, beers, and spirits available.

Believing that life is better shared, Corbett & Claude on Elizabeth Street show their love for get togethers with indulgent share plates, mouth-watering pizzas and mains to make your heart race. Tasty morsels can also be found at Super Whatnot in Burnett Lane. The quirky bar offers exceptionally well-made cocktails, gorgeous aesthetics, and a happening late-night vibe. Sometimes all you need is a waterside view whilst getting immersed in conversation, and these nights are spent well in the company of Mr & Mrs G Riverbar who offer a stylish wine bar, elegant cocktail lounge, and seasonal tapas dishes.

Check out Super Whatnot’s ‘Only Lovers Left Alive‘ package, letting you delight in three courses for $70 plus a bottle of Specchio Prosecco. Super Whatnot will reserve the best seats for two in the house for bookings made here.

Treaties for your sweetie

Hit V-Day a little differently this year with a curated picnic or heavenly hamper from Brisbane’s best! It goes without saying that the brownies from Dello Mano are an iconic treat of our city, but did you know they also deliver? Say ‘I love you’ with brownies, cakes or cookies – they won’t forget it! Jocelyn’s Provisions on Eagle Street also offer an array of delicious savoury treats and salivating sweets, including their Valentine’s Day cookies for a sweet and simple gift, as well as cupcakes with a Valentine’s twist.

Some would say you can’t go past a classic chocolate gift on Valentine’s Day, but make it a moment to remember with Chocolate Moments in Brisbane Arcade. Handmade and crafted right here in Brisbane, take some time to close your eyes and let your taste buds do the talking! There are even vegan options available. For something a little more savoury, wrap your hands around the best burgers in Brisbane thanks to Red Hook. Dine-in is available but why not opt for a takeaway option to enjoy in the comfort of your own home, or somewhere by the river. Finally, City Winery offers one of the most unique romantic experiences with their in-home/hotel wine and food pairing experience. Set over three courses with three bottles of wine, the intimate session uses a video call with their winemaker along with follow up videos at each course explaining what foods should be paired with specific wines to sip the night away.
