Snow newbies need not be intimidated by these stats – a generous 25 per cent of the runs at Perisher are marked at a beginner level, so you can build up your skills during your stay.
MT BULLER | Victoria
Just a three-hour drive out of Melbourne, Mt Buller is a handy pick for the weekend skier. With 22 lifts servicing 25 ski runs, this ski resort also provides plenty of tobogganing options for the kids.
With the new Snowfactory machine pumping out plenty of man-made powder to supplement overnight falls, you can be guaranteed a smooth morning run. Mt Buller also features some lush ski-in ski-out accommodation, for those who like to maximise their time on the slopes!
FALLS CREEK | Victoria
While Falls Creek is a little farther out of Melbourne (4.5 hours by car), this alpine resort includes a mammoth 92 runs, with 14 lifts to help access them all! Book for early August if you want to catch the Falls Creek Dog Sled Classic – an unmissable event for lovers of huskies and malamutes!
MT HOTHAM | Victoria
Is there anything more authentic then enjoying an après-ski beer that has been brewed with snowmelt? Not only is Mt Hotham home to 13 ski lifts and a massive 72 runs, it can also boast Australia’s highest brewery! Blizzard Brewery, located above the snowline at Mt Hotham, is the perfect spot to catch up with the crew after a solid day on the slopes.
