The Calile Goes Coastal: We’ve Got The Inside Scoop On This Iconic Hotel’s Expansion
Pack your bags
An internationally acclaimed hotel, an uber-cool celebrity hangout, and Brisbane’s hottest hub: The Calile Hotel is packing its things and heading for the cool coastline of Noosa Heads.
After announcing its exciting expansion to our coastal neighbour, we, along with the rest of the country, have been eagerly awaiting more details. With approval from the local council now in place, construction is set to begin early next year, with the highly anticipated hotel opening its doors in 2028.
Nestled on Serenity Close in Noosa Heads, The Calile Noosa will feature 153 rooms, 29 suites, and four villas. If The Calile we know and love is any indication, we can expect this new location to be equally, if not more, impressive.
To get the inside scoop on this exciting new expansion, we sat down with Co-Founders Cal and Bec Malouf to learn more about the project.
Hey Bec and Cal! Everyone’s talking about The Calile Hotel’s new opening in Noosa. How does it feel to see so much buzz surrounding this highly anticipated project?
The excitement around The Calile Noosa has been amazing! Seeing such a positive response makes all the hard work worth it and we’re thrilled to bring a unique experience that feels perfectly at home in Noosa.
Could you describe your vision for The Calile Noosa? How do you want people to feel when they walk through the doors?
We envision a retreat that’s inviting and effortless. When guests walk in, we want them to feel an instant sense of calm and connection to the surrounding architecture and landscape.
Noosa is an iconic destination – why did it stand out to you as the perfect spot for your next hotel?
Noosa stood out for its natural beauty and relaxed culture. It’s a place that values luxury but doesn’t take itself too seriously – just like us.
You’re collaborating once again with the talented architects at Richard & Spence. Can you tell us more about the creative process you share with them?
Working with Richards & Spence again is familiar and comfortable as, first and foremost, they are our friends as well as uniquely talented architects. They get our vision and understand the site’s unique requirements, making it easy to create something both innovative and true to Noosa.
Can you share any standout amenities or experiences that will be unique to the Noosa location?
We’re excited to bring standout amenities that truly elevate the guest experience – like our two distinct pools, a serene spa, hot and cold pools, saunas, a well-equipped gym, stylish retail spaces, and a variety of dining options. Plus, with the Noosa Everglades right on our doorstep – one of only two everglades ecosystems on earth – guests have the chance to explore an incredibly unique natural wonder. We can’t wait for people to experience everything that makes The Calile Noosa so special!
Sustainability is becoming increasingly important in hospitality. How is The Calile Noosa integrating eco-friendly practices into the design and operation of this new property?
Sustainability is a key part of this project. We’re mindful of our environmental footprint, using eco-friendly materials and an architectural approach that blends with Noosa’s natural landscape. We have an entire recycling program, worm farms, water harvesting, bee hives, our own vegetable gardens, and solar panels on everything. The resort aims to be as close to carbon neutral as possible.
What can we expect from the dining experience at The Calile Noosa? How will the Noosa property elevate or complement the local dining scene?
Dining at The Calile Noosa will combine our signature flavours with the best of Noosa’s local scene. We’ll offer something fresh and familiar, building on our original concepts and blending seamlessly with the local food culture. Sorry – we have no teasers as to who is coming…yet.
