Live The Potato Head Bali Life For #goodtimesathome

It’s a vibe

By Georgie Murray | 21st April 2020

Whether you’ve jumped across the shore to Bali or not, it’s very likely you’ve heard of Potato Head – one of Bali’s most notorious beachside hot spots for all the right reasons.

Renowned for its location and views, it’s the atmosphere that steals the show. With a stellar rotating schedule of DJs, Potato Head is the place to be and be seen when in B-town. And, with travel restricted, we’re giving in all access pass to experience Potato Head’s beats, banter and all-round good times.

Hold onto ya hats and welcome to #goodtimesathome.

Desa Potato Head is a creative village comprising of the beach club, Katamama Suites and the new Potato Head Studios, providing a platform for music, art, design, food and wellness to meet. While the covid-19 chaos continues, they’ve combined these three assets to create a Potato Head experience that’s within reach for anyone and everyone.

Via Facebook, Instagram and their website, Potato Head will be running daily rituals with explorative films, immersive reads, playlists from their go-to selectors, virtual art exhibitions, yoga and workout sessions. But, it’s their weekly Sun Down sessions via Spotify that really has us excited.

The events are broken down into three main categories as below.

The Wild Life Archive

They put it simply themselves defining The Wild Life Archive as a digital exhibition celebrating the history of dance music culture. With a renowned collection of ephemera, books, magazines and related artifacts see how the culture of music and dance has progressed from the beginning of history to today. The collection has been over 25 years in the making collating over 4000 items dating back to the 1970s New York disco scene, Chicago music, Detroit techno, Belgium new beat, Ibiza Balearic and UK acid house... just to name a few.

Studio Eksotika

Enjoy exotic, sun-infused (your local weather pending, but hey, let’s be positive eh?) Sunday morning jam from resident Jakarta-born DJ, Dea Barandana. On Tuesdays and Fridays on the other hand, enjoy a series of Spotify playlists by friends of Potato Head. The likes of Eric Duncan, Phill Mison, Dea, CC:Disco, Jim Stanton, Mr Scruff, Pinky Perzelle and Belda will be spinning decks.

Yoga, Workouts, Recipes & Sustainable Hacks

Potato Head has teamed up with travel site Trippin World and VIA Planet Earth to produce a series of improvised instrumentals by experimental musicians from around the globe. Tune in on Sunday’s from 11am Brisbane time on Potato Head’s Facebook and Instagram. Speaking of Facebook, stay tuned on for info on the at-home workouts bought to you by the Desa personal trainers, as well as recipes from Potato Head’s Head Chefs inspired by Bali and beyond. Recipes are said to feature DIY granola, Lotek salad, Nasi Goreng, Pickling, Sayur Benng Soup and root beer.

Sustainability is a key focus at Desa Potato Head and with that, they’ve introduced a series of tips and tricks for creating sustainable versions of store-brought items such as candles, hand sanitizer and cleaner. Again, all via their website and socials!

Check it out and live out the Potato Head life from home.
