Spend A Day In Paris With Content Creator & Former Parisian @dom.overseas
Paris, je t'aime!
By Dominique Nurtsch | 31st March 2025Ever since living in Paris and working for the German VOGUE and Glamour magazine in my early twenties, the city has had a magical pull on me. Despite having moved from Germany to Australia six years ago, I travel back to Paris two to three times a year to seek inspiration, create content for my beautiful Australian fashion clients, and catch up with friends and family. During my recent trip to the City of Lights in early March, I attended some exciting Paris Fashion Week events and worked on shoots for global brands such as H&M and Pandora.
This is my perfect day in Paris for your next trip!
Packing tip
Add all the pieces you’d love to take to a Canva whiteboard and create outfits with them. You’ll quickly realise if you didn’t end up using a certain bag, for example, which can stay behind!
9AM: Morning walk & coffee
When flying in from Australia (we took Qantas from Brisbane to Perth to Paris), jetlag will most likely have you awake early. I love to visit the hotel gym for a stretch and light workout before walking to my favourite Parisian park: Palais Royal. I always get my morning coffee from either Café Kitsuné or La Crème de Paris – it’s a must.
10AM: Shopping
It wouldn’t be a Paris trip without a little shopping (or investing as my friends and I call it). The complimentary champagne (or coffee) at the luxury stores adds to the perfect Parisian experience! My favourite stores are Saint Laurent on Rue Saint-Honoré (their team is just beyond welcoming) and the newly opened Merci concept store on Rue de Richelieu. It’s perfect for unique souvenirs; I got a long sleeve in collaboration with Erewhon.
11AM: Go for a walk
I could spend a week in Paris and just wander around all day, happily looking at all the fabulously dressed people, architecture, and stores. Start at Palais Royal in the 1st arrondissement, make your way through the Jardin des Tuileries past the Louvre, then turn left at Place de la Concorde to walk along the Seine towards the Eiffel Tower, passing the Grand and Petit Palais.
1PM: Lunch
For a low-key lunch, get a sandwich (a French baguette with any toppings) from a bakery with a mandatory pain au chocolat as dessert. Worth the trip: M. Denis bakery in the 9th arrondissement. I apologise in advance – it will ruin you forever! If you’d love to splurge on a sunny day, book a terrace lunch at Loulou Paris.
3PM: Coffee pick-me-up
I am a creature of habit and love to head back to the Palais Royal for an afternoon coffee at Café Kitsuné Palais Royal – they’re open until 7pm!
4PM: Take pictures
A trip to Paris wouldn’t be complete without an iconic Eiffel Tower photo. Hot tip: Place de Mexico has an incredible view of the Eiffel Tower and isn’t as crowded as most other photo spots. I shot a campaign for H&M here and am so happy with how it all turned out.
7PM: Dinner
Head to one of the hottest new restaurants in town, Siena, for dinner. I went here with Hermès and the atmosphere is incredible!
Where to stay
My favourite Parisian hotel is Hôtel Madame Rêve in the 1st arrondissement, just a short walk from the Seine, the Louvre, and Opéra Garnier. It’s absolutely worth the splurge as you’ll say goodbye to jetlag in no time with their sauna and impeccable service. Be ready for celeb-sighting in the intimate lobby!
