G'day, New York!

The Big Apple has just gotten a hearty slice of Down Under charm, thanks to Aussie comedian and media personality Andy Lee. He’s teamed up with mates Nick Stone, the brain behind Bluestone Lane, and restaurateur Eddy Buckingham to bring a true-blue Australian pub experience to Manhattan. Say hello to Old Mates, the latest hotspot that’s set to become your new favourite hangout.

Aussie spirit in the heart of NYC

Nestled at 170 John Street in the vibrant Seaport District, Old Mates isn’t just another themed bar – it’s a genuine Australian pub. Spanning three stories and a whopping 10,000 square feet, this venue boasts four distinct bars, each offering a unique vibe. Whether you’re in the mood for a lively night with live music or a cozy corner for a quiet chat, Old Mates has got you covered.

The decor is a tasteful nod to Australian culture, featuring custom-made carpets and original artworks by renowned Aussie artists like Ken Done and Reg Mombassa. It’s all about authenticity here – no clichéd “Crocodile Dundee” posters in sight. Instead, you’ll find a space that feels just like your favourite local back home.

What’s on the menu?

Now, let’s talk tucker. The menu at Old Mates is a love letter to classic Australian pub fare, elevated with fresh, local ingredients. Craving a hearty meal? Dig into lamb chops or a succulent steak and chips. And for burger enthusiasts, the “Burger With The Lot” comes loaded with pineapple and a fried egg – a true Aussie classic.

Thirsty? The bar proudly serves a selection of 100% Australian wines, alongside a variety of brews and spirits from Down Under. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a crisp cold one while catching up with friends or making new ones.

When can I go?

The excitement kicked off with a lively preview party that had the place buzzing. Guests, including “Succession” star Sarah Snook, packed the venue, eager to experience a slice of Australia in NYC. The official opening followed shortly after, and the response has been nothing short of enthusiastic.

Whether you’re an Aussie craving a taste of home or a New Yorker keen to experience true-blue hospitality, Old Mates is the spot to be. The official launch date is under wraps for now, but word on the street is—it’s coming in hot! So, keep your eyes peeled, then swing by, grab a drink, and say g’day to your new favourite local.
