We’ve all done Byron Bay, Sydney, Melbourne and even Toowoomba. But now, how’s this for a unique weekend escape? Last week Jetstar officially launched a direct-service linking Brisbane to Uluru’s Ayers Rock Airport!

With three flights operating each week, the connection marks the first-ever direct flights between the two destinations.

Jetstar Executive Manager Alan McIntyre said the airline expects strong demand from Queenslanders wanting to visit the red centre.

“Uluru is one of the most iconic destinations in Australia,” Mr McIntyre said. “With Brisbane continuing to grow as one of Australia’s largest tourism hubs, we are confident that our low fares will encourage more people to travel to the Northern Territory.”

Prudence Richardson was one of the first Brisbanites to take advantage of the flights and her Instagram pics have us lusting after our own Aussie Outback escape!

Not sure what to do while you’re there? Make sure you catch the sunset over Uluru, visit the Cultural Centre, and explore the 10.6lm loop walk around the base of Uluru. There’s also camel tours, scenic helicopter flights, and the incredible dining at Tali Wiru and Sounds Of Silence.
