Italian Beauty Bianca Marchi-Simon’s Stylish Guide To Milan
Ciao bella
By Bianca Licina | 3rd April 2025When it comes to traveling to a world-class city like Milan, navigating its intricate ecosystem of incredible restaurants, bustling markets, culturally rich museums, and world-renowned shopping can be overwhelming. That’s why, when there’s an expert in the room, it’s best to turn to them.
Enter Bianca Marchi-Simon, co-founder of Anyday Hospitality. Born and raised in Milan, with family still in the city, Bianca is the ultimate insider on how to experience Milan in style. From the best places to eat and stay to where to shop for the full Milanese experience, she knows it all.
We asked her to share her top tips.
Where’s the best place to stay?
Casa Brivio! The perfect place to stay if you are looking to experience Milanese life like a local.
Best coffee spot?
Pasticceria Sissi – it’s home to the best brioche in Milan. If you want to soak in the true Milanese vibe, grab a coffee at Leonardo on Via Aurelio Saffi and watch the locals in their element.
A must-visit gallery?
Milan has an incredible art scene, so it’s always worth checking what’s on before you go – there are usually some spectacular exhibitions. Artforum is a great place to start. On my last trip, I visited Kaufmann Repetto (kaufmannrepetto.com) and Fondazione Prada – both were outstanding.
Best place to shop?
Casa del Bianco is my go-to for the best Italian-made pyjamas and friulane shoes – it’s one of those rare gems that feels like stepping back in time. If you are after high-end fashion, visit Antonia, particularly at the original location in Brera for the full experience. And for vintage lovers, Cavalli e Nastri is a must. They have a few locations in Milan and every single one is worth a visit.
Top spot for wining and dining?
For classic Milanese fare: Trattoria Milanese. I’ve been coming here with my family since I was little and it’s still perfect.
For a cult favorite: La Latteria – their lemon spaghetti is a must!
For seafood: Langosteria Bistrot
For something buzzy: Trippa. It’s been one of Milan’s hottest restaurants for years and for good reason. If you can get a booking, run—don’t walk!
For wine and snacks: Bar Paradiso, Associazione Salumi e Vini Naturali (on Corso Garibaldi), and Osteria alla Concorrenza. Each has an excellent wine list and a great atmosphere.
Any other insider tips?
Do your research! Milan is full of hidden gems, but you need to know where to look. The best spots aren’t always in the most obvious locations, so take recommendations from locals or those who’ve spent time exploring the city properly.
Your other three favourite places to visit in Italy?
The other city I love is Florence for the art and food, Sardegna (not the main towns) but just experience the whole Island. It is so wild and beautiful. I also love the entire area around Noto in Sicilia. You can’t beat the food.
