Live Out Your Fairy Tale Fantasies At Brisbane Quarter’s Nearly Midnight Installation

Happily ever after

By Penelope Pelecas | 13th February 2024

Make Valentine’s Day extra magical this year with a visit to Brisbane Quarter. The distinguished dining and retail precinct has transformed into an enchanting realm of fantasy and fun with the new Nearly Midnight installation by celebrated local artist Rachel Burke.

With a nod to the ‘Fairy Tales’ exhibition currently on at GOMA (running until 28 April), live out your Cinderella fantasy by taking a snap next to a two-metre-high sparkly slipper (can you believe more than one million miniature glass tiles make up the display?) and a mesmerising light-up tinsel and tulle dress – your inner child will no doubt be squealing with joy!

To make the experience even more enjoyable, some of Brisbane Quarter’s restaurants have joined in on the fun with special dishes and beverages – why not make it a day or night out? (Short on time? Grab a coffee from O’GaBee & Co Coffee Roastery and peruse the spectacular sights at your leisure.)

PS, be prepared to be surrounded by shimmering blue and silver tinsel at almost every corner!

Persone

Fancy a frothy drink? Say hello to the Nuvola cocktail made up of Chambord raspberry liqueur, Cointreau orange liqueur, ginger syrup, lemon juice, and topped with fairy floss. Sound delish? It can be yours for $25.

Brisbane Phoenix

Transport yourself to a faraway land with the Blue Sand cocktail, priced at $28. Vodka is the star of this dreamy drink followed by cognac, orange liqueur, lemon, Sprite, and a sprinkle of gold sugar dust, of course. Order the delicious Midnight M9 Wagyu with Scampi Caviar ($128) to follow and you’ve got yourself the perfect pairing.

Living Room Bar, W Brisbane

Who doesn’t love a high tea party? Inspired by your favourite fairy tales, indulge in the Ever After High Tea made up of sweet and savoury seasonal bites – we have our eyes on the Strawberry Macaron Cakes. The high tea starts at $79pp but for an extra $20pp you can pair it with the Love is Blind cocktail.

Tenya Japanese Restaurant & Bar

Love trying new flavours? We’d recommend ordering the Niffler cocktail, a citrusy burst of Japanese yuzu and bergamot liqueur, perfectly mixed in with gin and sake (priced at $25) – now, that sounds like a drink we’d love to try!

Meet Tea & Coffee

Delight in the charm of the oh-so-kawaii ‘happy emoji’ egg-shaped waffles filled with your choice of cheese, chocolate, or sweet red bean paste for $15 per carton for a single flavour or $18 per carton for two flavours.

Phat Boy

Will you or won’t you try the Will You Marry Me? cocktail, a fruity pink concoction of raspberry vodka, rosewater, pink grapefruit, and pomegranate juice (priced at $18) – who else can picture sipping this with the girls for Galentine’s Day?

Pop this spectacular exhibition into your calendar now for an enchanting experience like no other. Nearly Midnight runs until 27 March. For more information, visit here! PSA, this one’s for the men, if you’re planning a romantic night out, don’t forget to swing past Wil Valor on Podium 1 for some new suiting options – you’ll thank us later!
