Ekka Eve Party | Regatta Hotel, Toowong
Escape the city and enjoy live music, drinks and a slow roast barbecue while overlooking the Brisbane river from 4pm this afternoon.
Ekka Eve Hoedown | Alfred and Constance, Fortitude Valley
From 6pm today, slap on your daisy dukes and head on down to Brisbane’s favourite Queenslander for dagwood dogs and fairy floss cocktails (you read that correctly!) in the Tiki Bar.
Rooftop Party | Eleven Rooftop Bar, Fortitude Valley
Indulge in signature cocktails, seasonal eats and a spectacular Brisbane cityscape from the rooftop at Eleven. As you sip, enjoy the sounds of some of Brisbane’s best DJ’s from 5pm this evening.
The Caxton Goes Country | The Caxton Hotel, Paddington
Grab your akubras because The Caxton Hotel is going country tonight to ring in Ekka Wednesday eve. There’ll be live rockabilly tunes, sideshow alley clowns, free fairy floss, dagwood dogs and even show bags to sweeten the deal.
Ekka Eve Party | Riverbar and Kitchen, City
From 5pm tonight, dive straight into the Ekka spirit(s) at Riverbar, featuring a pop-up bar, fairy floss and free popcorn a plenty.
Stand-up Comedy | Heya Bar, Fortitude Valley
Heya Comedy will be ringing in Ekka Eve with their show ‘Am I Right, Ladies?’ which promises to have you giggling your way into the public holiday. Tickets are $15 and the show starts at 8pm.
Mid-Week Boogie | Prohibition, Fortitude Valley
From 7pm, get your novelty mid-week groove on at Prohibition. What’s more, they’ll be serving up $1 pizza until 10pm. Pizza and dancing- name a better duo, we’ll wait…
90’s Movie Marathon | Metro Arts, City
Answering the prayers of all 90s children, Metro Arts will be screening 10 Things I Hate About You, Romy & Michelle’s Highschool Reunion and High Fidelity starting from 6.30 pm this evening. Watch one movie for $12 or even three for $20 to really make the most of your public holiday sleep in.
Physics in the Pub | Loft, West End
With National Science Week in full swing, come let your inner nerd fly, enjoy some drinks and watch local physicists get creative while showcasing their research. It starts at 6:30 pm and entry is free.
90’s Music Video Night | New Globe Theatre, Fortitude Valley
From 7pm tonight, the Globe will be transforming itself into the bedroom of a 90’s teenager and proceeding to screen the best of alt-rock music video clips over five hours.
Guests are urged to dress in their best 90’s get-ups, with prizes on offer for the most impressive.
$10 tickets can be purchased at the door.
