It's so much more than just a street party!

Make sure to clear your weekend plans from October 23 to 25 this year, because the streets of the Valley will be taken over by Valley Fiesta’s biggest lineup yet!

Brisbane’s free all-ages festival hosts the best of our thriving cultural scene, with more than 60 epic music acts, a showcase of arts, food and cultural experiences expected across the Valley’s streets, malls and laneways this year.

The Brisbane City Council have worked tirelessly to create the biggest and best lineup for its 18th year, and we definitely think they’ve come through with the goods. The headline act of the Fiesta has been announced as Australian indie pop band Alpine, with other major acts featured across the weekend including Art vs Science, Asta, Kilter, Young Franco with many more to be announced. The line up also has a strong Brisbane presence with The Cairos, Gill Bates, Feki, The Jensens, Torfason, Baskervillain and The Missing taking the stage.

However, while the Valley Fiesta’s music lineup has all the acts of a mainstream festival for FREE, there are plenty of other events we’re keen on attending. Like these five:

1    Fiesta Feast

Local restaurants will be vying for your vote to become the winner of “Fiesta Feast” by showcasing their signature dishes in a licensed area of Chinatown Mall. Visit the market stalls to vote on your favourite dish throughout the day.

Date: Saturday 24 October
Time: 11am to 10pm
Location: Chinatown Mall

2    Revelry Laneway Fiesta and Outdoor Cinema

This is a Saturday night at the movies, with a difference. Unwrap a blanket on the grass, play life-size board games and drink Pimms until the opening scene starts... shh! (Movie to be announced closer to date)

The pop-up party in the Revelry carpark will also feature a range of treats and coffee from local café Flux with fashion markets featuring local designers Another Autumn and Stil Hora – two of Brisbane’s emerging young designers throughout the day.

Date: Saturday 24 October
Time: 9am to 10pm
Location: The Revelry Carpark Laneway, 740 Ann St Fortitude Valley

3 Dining Under The Stars: Laneway Series

Browse Bakery Lane after dark for an intimate alfresco banquet under the stars. The menu will feature three entree options from organic cafe Lost Boys, a choice of mains from The Kiosk and a delicious dessert from I Heart Brownies.

Date: Friday 23 October
Time: 5.30pm to 10pm
Location: Bakery Lane

4 Live Street Art

Watching paint dry can actually be fun… hear us out! The Valley Fiesta 2015 mural will become a live art installation worked on by well-known local and international artists, and you can watch them create it. We think this event would make an awesome Instagram opportunity!

Date: 23 - 25 October
Time: 9am to 10pm
Location: The Flying Cock, 388 Brunswick Street

5 Drop and Swop

Crave new clothes, but don’t have the cash? Clothes swapping is a free and sustainable way to upgrade your wardrobe with a new fave gem. Organised by Drop and Swop, Brisbane’s biggest clothing exchange, produced by Undress Runways, it’s the best way to recycle the clothing you no longer wear, and find some fabulous new pieces for your own collection.

Date: Sunday 25 October
Time: 10am to 3pm
Location: Chinatown Mall

So Stylers, which events are you keen to attend?
