From indulging in Yuletide treats at the Christmas markets and snow-covered streets of Movie World to beach-side firework displays, the Gold Coast has everything you need to get in the festive spirit and celebrate the year that was.


December: Tugun Lights Up
Shopfronts, buildings and trees throughout Tugun Village are covered in Christmas lights to celebrate the festive season for the whole month of December. Get along and enjoy the town “up in lights!”

December: White Christmas at Warner Bros. Movie World, Oxenford
Experience a magical Christmas Parade with themed floats and the enchantment of Warner Bros. Movie World's snow-covered streets. See live street performances and a stunning Christmas light display. Event dates are 17 to 19, 28 and 31 December.

13 to 24 December: Meet Santa at the Christmas Display in Cavill Mall, Surfers Paradise
Santa and his elf will arrive in Cavill Mall in a surfboat sleigh pulled by kangaroo. Yes, ’tis truly the season to be jolly and celebrate in true blue Aussie style. Santa will be available for free family photos each day until Thursday, December 24 from 12pm to 3pm and 4pm to 7pm.

18 December: The Arts Centre Gold Coast presents A Rockin’ Christmas
The Paradise Showroom is offering a rockin’ Christmas dinner and show. Guests will enjoy a delicious three-course meal before the amazing The Flashbacks perform the greatest hits of the 50s and 60s! Old time rock’n’roll will have you cutting a rug and jitterbugging the night away.

18 to 24 December: Christmas Markets Gold Coast at the Broadwater Parklands
Take a relaxing stroll with friends and family under shimmering lights, be charmed by the roving Christmas performers and pick up some unique gifts or last-minute stocking fillers for your loved ones. Enjoy gourmet Yuletide treats, jump into the life-sized snow globe for a unique family photo, watch a Christmas movie at the outdoor cinema or meet Santa, who visits each day at 5pm.

19 December: Carols on the Broadwater, Southport
Southport Yacht Club celebrates Christmas with the annual Carols on the Broadwater event. From 4pm, over 300 members and guests are expected to join in on the fun with face painting, a vessel parade, and a live band performing all of your favourite Christmas carols on the world-first Waterscape pontoon bar. Expect a visit from Santa himself, who will be arriving via jetpack. He may even have treats in tow for all the kids!

19 December: Simply Carols, Upper Coomera
This unplugged Christmas carols event takes place under the stars and features local artists, with pre-entertainment from 5.30pm and carols starting at 6.30pm.

19 December: Nerang Celebrates Christmas, Nerang
Come along and celebrate Christmas at Bischof Park in Nerang. Join the family-friendly celebration with free entertainment, carols, rides and fireworks.

20 December: Carols on the Beach, Surfers Paradise
Bring a picnic blanket and your best singing voice for an evening under the stars at the annual Surfers Paradise Carols on the Beach on Sunday, December 20 from 6.30pm with fireworks at 8pm.This event features a talented all-Aussie line-up and is hosted by Charli Robinson, Sea FM host and former Hi-5 personality.

20 December: Jacobs Well Community Carols by Candlelight, Jacobs Well
Enjoy Carols by Candlelight with children’s entertainment, a visit from Santa and fireworks.


New Year’s Carnival, Surfers Paradise
Start your countdown to 2016 early with carnival rides, kids' slides and heaps of fun all along the Surfers Paradise foreshore daily from December 27. Come New Year’s Eve, you can experience one of Queensland's largest fireworks displays at Surfers Paradise Beach at 8pm and midnight, and Riverside by Cocoon Lounge Bar and Howl at the Moon at 10pm.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks, Broadbeach
The annual fireworks display off Kurrawa Beach will go off at 8pm and again at midnight.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks, Broadwater Parklands, Southport
Southport’s Broadwater Parklands will have a Food Truck Feast from 5pm and the New Year’s Eve fireworks spectacular will start at 9pm.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks, Coomera
Celebrate at Viney Park from 5pm with live entertainment, amusement rides, sideshow alley, and food vendors. A special kids’ fireworks display will take place at 9pm, with a midnight fireworks spectacular for the adults.

Firelight Spectacular, Paradise Point
This family celebration includes live music on the main stage, a parade of your favourite party characters and a renowned firework display synchronised to music with the latest in technology and effects.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks, Ormeau
Celebrate the New Year with live music, carnival rides, face painting, food and beverage stalls, and fireworks at Brien Harris Oval in Ormeau from 5pm to 9pm.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks, Coolangatta

Ring in the New Year with two fireworks displays at 9pm and midnight. The fireworks will be visible from Coolangatta and North Kirra beaches.
