Live Out Your Bridal Dreams At Ascot’s Newest Wedding Dress Boutique

more than just a dress

By Bianca Licina | 1st October 2025

Maybe it was 27 Dresses, Bride Wars, or My Big Fat Greek Wedding that first shaped your idea of “the big day”. Either way, many have grown up with some kind of vision. Sure, Pinterest boards, Becca Bloom’s TikToks, and your mum’s wedding album help, but at some point, you need more than inspo. That’s where The Blushery steps in.

Pink-hued, peony-lined, and the fashion star of our October cover, Ascot’s newest bridal boutique brings out the dreamy child in every bride. Headed by Jodie – Founder, fairy godmother, best friend you didn’t know you needed — she makes the whole experience feel effortless.

Glamorous but grounded, warm but whip-smart, and sweet as pie, Jodie knows how to turn bridal shopping into a memory you’ll never forget. With her shiny new flagship open in Ascot (and her Charlotte Street space now a dedicated sample store), she’s reimagining how brides find ‘the one’.

Speaking of the one, let’s talk gowns. Jodie’s philosophy? Dresses should be unique, timeless, high-quality, and not so jaw-droppingly expensive that you can’t also spring for a decent honeymoon. “We work closely with designers and ateliers in Canada and Ukraine, plus our own label designed here in Brisbane,” she says.

With names like Olya Mak and Luce Sposa on the racks, The Blushery brings that dreamy European edge without losing its Brisbane heart. Oh, and every gown is ordered in with the option to customise — so no one’s leaving in a dress that feels, dare we say, basic.

When the Style team stopped by to pick the gowns for our October shoot, we were quickly swept up in the spectacle. And with no brides-to-be among us, we had to ask: what’s trending in bridal right now? “Dramatic basque waists, long-line bodices, cat-ear corsetry, and gowns with detachable details — like overskirts, sleeves, or capes — are big right now,” Jodie told us. And with that, we styled our cover model in all the looks brides are loving this season, right down to the must-have reception dress moment. Because who doesn’t love a dramatic outfit change?

That said, the classics aren’t going anywhere – chic crepe, fairytale Mikado ball gowns, timeless lace, elegant clean lines. At The Blushery, it’s about finding the balance between trend and timeless, and giving every bride her main character moment. The sweetest detail? Every bride who walks through the doors leaves with a custom Barbie doll dressed in her gown. Cue the happy tears.

Whether you’re imagining a lacy ballgown, a sleek minimalist silhouette, or the perfect two-dress switch-up, the only way to know which gown is yours is to book a custom appointment with Jodie and the team — and let The Blushery bring your bridal vision to life.
