How to Stay Fab with The Flu

It turns out having the flu is linked with pampering, beauty sleep and new clothes. We should have gotten sick sooner!

Chances are at this exact moment, you or someone you know has the flu. It is winter after all!

Having the flu (or a really bad cold) can be incredibly unpleasant and it’s quite hard to stay on top of your game when you look and feel like your head is about to explode. This is why we’ve put together some tips to help you remain your fabulous self when you aren’t feeling very fab at all.

High tea, anyone?

Not only will you look regal, the right sort of tea will make you feel better. Try old-fashioned honey, lemon and ginger. Or buy a special blend that’s already made for you:

Chuck a sickie

Become a lady of leisure for a day when you stay at home and look after yourself! If you can peel yourself out of bed, have a soak in the bath. The other benefit of staying home is that you won’t make the rest of the office sick! Don’t be that person…

Get Steamy

While we’re on the topic of pampering, steam doesn’t just create the illusion of a spa treatment – it also works to clear congestion. Pour some boiling water in a bowl, hold your face over it with a towel placed over your head and the bowl, then inhale the steam. Maybe chuck in some eucalyptus oil and menthol for an even better treatment (they’re great for congestion). A jar of good ol’ Vicks is an easy option too!

Get your beauty sleep

Fabulous ladies don’t sleep just for the beauty benefits; sleeping will help you get over your flu a lot quicker, even if it can be hard to nod off when you’re congested as heck and couching all over the place. Prop yourself up like the queen you are! Sleeping alone also helps. Remember, you’re a fab, independent woman who don’t need no man.

Exercise. No, really…

Let everyone think you’re Wonder Woman and exercise while you’re sick. Although it probably seems impossible, experts say that it could actually help you get over your sickness faster. But if you have a fever or symptoms below the neck, give it a rest!

Fake fab with Snapchat

If you need to keep up appearances but have bags under your eyes that aren't the designer kind, Snapchat has a filter for that. Let everyone think you still look amazing with the Coachella Hair Crown filter, or our favourite: the Pink Flower Halo filter.

 

Go shopping
