If you’re in need of a big spring clean or if you just want to get rid of some stuff and MAKE MONEY OUT OF IT, you’ve come to the right place. From doing things the old-fashioned way to using social media, you’ll jump at the opportunity when you see just how easy it can be.
Use An App
There are tonnes of apps out there that allow you to buy and sell clothes, jewellery, cosmetics and everything in-between. If you’re not keen to set up a stall and go through the whole process of waiting for customers to show up, an app is a great way to do it from your bedside. Carousell lets you buy, sell and trade your preloved items for free and it’s an easy way to make some extra coin!
For those who like to do things the old-fashioned way, a good ol’ garage sale can transform your unwanted items into fast cash. Promote it on social media, ask if you can hang flyers in local shop windows, throw them in randoms’ faces (maybe not the last one). Next thing you know, you have a vortex of vultures (THAT IS A REAL THING) flocking around your garage and spilling their cash into your pockets!
If you love attending markets, why not register to be a stall holder at Suitcase Rummage? Bring a suitcase filled with your unwanted goods and watch as people come around to grab a bargain or swap with you! These events are held in QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC and WA. You can shop from a variety of categories such as artwork, clothing, books, records, badges and more. One person’s trash is another person’s treasure, remember? Check out our full list of second-hand markets here.
Forget eBay; Gumtree is making waves when it comes to selling your preloved goodies. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s a free online hub for local classified ads. They even have a freebie section if you’re not having any luck getting rid of something. Plus, they started in Straya so you know you’re in good hands. You can sell just about anything on here, from cars to pets! Yep, I said it.
Create an Instagram account
It’s quite common for fashionistas to create a separate Instagram account to sell their preloved designer goodies. Look at Roxy Jacenko for instance, who sold items from her overflowing and luxurious wardrobe to her followers. Plus, it costs nothing to advertise it and you can make some fast cash from young fashion-lovers who might not be able to buy those goodies at retail price. You can simply delete the photo once you’ve made a sale – how easy is that?!
