By Mary Dickinson.
Just before Christmas a new shop popped up in the suburbs. I’d heard about it and decided to go and check it out. From the look of the exterior, and the minute I stepped in the door I knew I was going to LOVE it. Having had about twenty years in the similar industry I felt I knew a thing or two about decorating, homewares and gifts.
The young owner Jack has what I call the eye, and has put together a very eclectic range of curiosities and decorator items, with an obvious lean towards animals and nature, along the lines of Ernest Hemmingway meets Peter Beard!
I wanted everything! There are huge glass jugs, bowls, platters, ostrich eggs, rattan covered utensils and lamps, furniture, hides, giant beads, a staghorn candelabra, clocks, African baskets, glass cases, oversized egg-timers, antlers horns, prints of beetles, wooden horses, shoe lasts, wooden carvings, clocks, shells, coral, blue and white ceramics - all sourced from supplies who travel the world looking for that something different.
Search no more; it’s all here!
