Harry Potter Markets Coming To Brisbane

Muggles everywhere are losing it.

When we saw the Evening at Hogwarts event on Facebook, our collective hearts sank. Mostly because we assumed it would be in some faraway place that I could never attend, like Melbourne or Borneo. And then we saw the location.

Latrobe Terrace.

Pastel Palace will be hosting the event, which takes place on March 26 from 1.30-7pm. This little Kawaii boutique is a slice of Harajuku in Brisbane that offers Sailor Moon, Pokémon and Harry Potter memorabilia, as well as freaking awesome pop culture nails from Kawaii Klaws. They sell other stuff too, but these things are the most important.

So what exactly does an Evening at Hogwarts entail? Doors will open at 1.30pm for a movie showing, with trivia at 4pm. Then we get ANOTHER movie showing at 4.30pm because we’re worth it and Hogwarts will always be there to welcome us home.

At 6pm, the COSPLAY COMPETITION kicks off. We all dressed up for Halloween or a midnight premiere at some point, don’t deny it, so dig out those dress robes and get ready for double, double, toil and trouble. Just know that my Golden Snitch costume will knock y’all out of the cosplay competition before you can say “Quidditch”.

Throughout the day, you can buy everything on your Hogwarts school list from Pastel Pixie, Kareki Art, Bonnies Bathhouse, Enchanted Lights and Ruby Kawaii. And by “everything on your Hogwarts list” we mean the stuff of dreams. We’re talking Potter-themed art, accessories, memorabilia, candles and soaps. To be totally honest, if we could make my houses smell like Hogwarts, we'd never leave it ever again.

YES, Muggles are welcome. But if you can’t get into Diagon Alley then that’s on you, buddy. Nearly 5000 people have already said they’re going on the Facebook invite, with another 16,000 having registered their interest. Even as we write this, we're not-so-secretly hoping that every single person forgets about the event so we can have it all to ourselves.

EFTPOS facilities will be available at many vendors, but the Galleon to AUD exchange rate is pretty good at the moment so take a trip to Gringotts and fill up your purses just in case. You don’t want to have to run for an ATM because things at this market are sure to sell out faster than the Skiving Snackboxes at Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes.

Just FYI, we've have been stalking the vendors on social media and we're willing to fight you guys for the merchandise. BYO wand for duelling purposes.
