Happiness through healthy habits

After struggling to maintain a healthy weight, Sarah found help to break the cycle thanks to Wesley LifeShape Clinic.

When Sarah got married, she was happy, healthy and was at a comfortable weight. However, like many busy mums, after the birth of her two children Sarah found unhealthy habits crept into her lifestyle.

“The weight gain was a gradual process – you don’t realise it’s happening,” Sarah says. “Life takes you on a path and when you’re busy with kids, you think about them and not about how to balance it all.”

Sarah felt exhausted everyday and became frustrated with not being able to buy the clothes she wanted to wear. She became increasingly concerned about the example she was setting for her children. A friend gave her the encouragement she needed to do something about it and the very next day, Sarah enlisted the help of a team of dedicated health professionals at Wesley LifeShape Clinic.

Six months later Sarah is 26kg lighter and more importantly, she’s now happy and excited about life again. “Before losing the weight, it was all a bit of a struggle. But everything in my life is so much easier now. I never thought I’d be sitting here saying things like this, but it’s so true!” says Sarah.

Sarah found it was breaking the dieting cycle that really worked; learning short-term fixes simply don’t last. “I never felt like I was dieting. Together, my Dietitian and I developed strategies that worked for me. I received such strong support from the staff I never felt like I was doing it alone.”
