While we’re absolutely ready to whip out our Dirndl’s and Ghostbuster costumes, we’re also looking for a few other things to do this October. Halloween Monsters Ball  | Saturday, Oct 27

Why worry about hosting a house party when you can hit-up Brisbane’s BIGGEST and SPOOKIEST Halloween spectacular? If you want to celebrate the spookiest day of the year, Victoria Park’s Halloween Monsters Ball guarantees to be the biggest Halloween event on Brisbane’s calendar. For $99pp, you can enjoy a sumptuous 4-hour beverage package as well as plenty of food and canapé stations. This means you can cut loose on the dance floor and order that third cocktail, and not have to worry about stripping off your costume makeup for work on Thursday. Score!

Put your hand up if you would be open to the idea of trading in your adulthood subscription? Flashing back to the days that were so much sweeter? What if we told you, that your dreams might have just become your reality?

Introducing Sugar Republic, Melbourne’s Insta-worthy, interactive exhibition. Relive your childhood memories as you explore 12 different rooms of fun. Wildlife Photographer of the Year | Until Saturday, Oct 20

The Brisbane Powerhouse will be hosting an exhibition all October long that harnesses the power of photography. Promoting discovery, understanding and the responsible enjoyment of nature, the world-class Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition will display 100 of the best images out of 50,000 global submissions. With the categories of diversity, documentary, portraits, portfolio, environments and young photographers, it will be an emotional display of our world from new perspectives and through leading lenses.

Queensland has a plethora of Oktoberfest celebrations happening across the city this year, and our Bavarian restaurants’ are up there with the best. Get ready for the biggest Oktoberfest party outside of Bavaria during six weeks of celebrations across Brisbane! War on Waste | Tuesday, Oct 2

The host of ABC’s War on Waste, Craig Reucassel is leading UQ’s Energy Initiative this October. Following on with the plastic bag ban, Craig will be delivering a powerful keynote address and answering any budding questions. His critical view of household, retail and farming waste, as well as Australia’s consumer culture, will make for an enlightening presentation. E-tickets are encouraged for this environmentally conscious talk. Reduce, reuse, and recycle!

Cult Cinema Cocktail Club | Thursday, Oct 4

While we tend to hit up Bowen Hills for food trucks and espresso martinis, we often forget it is home to the largest outdoor screen in Brisbane! Pairing our loves of movies, cocktails and food trucks, Welcome to Bowen Hills’ new event, Cult Cinema Cocktail Club is a cult we’d follow blindfolded. The first Thursday of October will be showing a cult classic with a themed cocktail menu to match. And what more apt cinematic masterpiece to kick off this event than Pulp Fiction? Sink into beanbags, stretch out your legs and enjoy the cinema a little differently this month.

Light the Night | Friday, Oct 5

Brisbane is coming together this October to beat blood cancer. Together, we will transform the dark night into an ebbing sea of glowing lanterns as we walk beside those facing this cancer and to remember lost loved ones. The mission is to raise the necessary funds for urgent research. Southbank’s Cultural Forecourt will ignite as Brisbane makes a stand.

Sea to the City | Sun, Oct 7

Brisbane’s Bug and Oyster trail has followed on nicely after saying our emotional goodbyes to the temporary Lobster and Champagne pop up. With free admission, this alfresco food trail is set to celebrate fresh seafood like never before. Pop-up food stalls and bars will line the riverfront of Eagle Street Pier through to Customs House. It’s not the beach but boy is it damn close. Fresh seafood, riverside views, wine and live music are a combination of the gods.

Mosaic Festival | Sunday, Oct 7

Get your culture on at the upcoming mosaic festival. Culture, art and dance combine in this celebratory event in the Roma Street Parklands. With renowned artists on the line-up, there will be strong international vibes from cuisines to performances. Entry is free if you register otherwise you can donate on the day to begin your October off with a taste of the world.

Learn How to Pickle Workshop | Sunday, Oct 7
