Feeling weighed down by stress or pain? Whether it’s tension in your body or emotions you’ve been holding onto, there’s a connection between the two that often goes unnoticed. Enter Dr Sarah Jane, an award-winning Chiropractor and Counsellor who has made a global impact with her groundbreaking healing method, Spinal Energetics. With over 15 years of study in wellness, including yoga, meditation, and holistic counselling, Dr Sarah has established herself as a leader in the field.

Having created Spinal Energetics during the pandemic, she quickly gained viral attention, amassing up to 10 million views on social media and generating 2.4 billion TikTok views for the phrase ‘Learn Spinal Energetics.’ Combining Eastern and Western techniques, her method taps into the body’s innate wisdom to heal. Now with over 500 practitioners worldwide, Dr Sarah is on a mission to help people overcome chronic pain and lead more aligned lives.

We caught up with Dr Sarah Jane ahead of her presentation at the 2025 KAILO Summit to learn more about what she does and what she’ll be touching on in Brisbane next May.

What is Spinal Energetics?

Spinal Energetics is an approach that I developed that blends the physical structure of the spine with the concept of energy in the body. Think west meets east. The spine is often considered the body’s central system – it’s not only a support structure but also where our innate intelligence and life force energy resides. In Spinal Energetics, our focus is on bringing connection to the areas of disconnection, whether it’s physical, mental, or emotional tension patterns. These are what we are working with as they are stored along the spine, mirroring the concept that the body keeps the score. The process can be both physical, through light touch, and energetic, connecting into the body’s natural healing ability via the field or energetic centres. It is about creating harmony between the body’s structure and its life force, allowing for a more balanced and cohesively experience of wellbeing.

Can you explain what energy is in this context?

Energy, in this context that I am talking about, refers to the ‘life force’ that sustains all living beings. It moves through us predominantly unconsciously, yet influencing our physical health, emotions, and even our mental clarity. It is the same intelligence that our body utilises to heal a cut, digest our food, keep us breathing, and keep our hearts beating. When energy is connected freely, we feel aligned, and in tune with our true self. But when this energy is disconnected as a result of a pattern or safety mechanism for example – through experiences like stress, trauma, or emotional pain – we experience discomfort, possibly physically, emotionally, and mentally, showing the true interconnection of our body and mind, for instance. Understanding energy is about tuning in to how our bodies communicate with us, recognising this, and finding ways to realign ourselves in a holistic way.

Are physical and emotional pain linked?

Absolutely. Physical and emotional pain often mirror each other. In my experience, for example, emotional pain can manifest in the body as physical discomfort. Maybe there is tension in the shoulders, tightness in the chest, or chronic discomfort. Likewise, physical injuries or long-standing issues that we have had for a long time often have emotional roots. Our bodies hold onto experiences, emotions and memories like a timeline, so when we address one layer, be it physical or emotional, we will often unlock the other. The mind and body connection can be incredibly powerful and spinal energetics takes these aspects into account.

What are your main talking points going to be at the 2025 KAILO Summit? What are you most looking forward to?

At the KAILO Summit, I’m excited to dive into the interconnectedness of body, mind, and energy. My main talking points will focus on how we can better understand the innate intelligence within ourselves and how our physical and emotional bodies are linked. What I’m most looking forward to is the shared experience as well – the whole coming together with others who are passionate about holistic health, learning from each other, and also hopefully sparking some deep and transformative conversations.

Anything in Brisbane you’re keen to check out while you’re here?

Brisbane has such a rich and vibrant vibe. It has definitely changed a lot as a city! I’m definitely keen to explore the natural beauty, perhaps a walk along the river or in some of the gardens. I’m also curious about the local wellness community here, so I might check out some studios to get a feel for how Brisbane approaches healing and wellbeing. Plus, I hear the food and shopping scene is fantastic, so I’m looking forward to that!

Anything you’d like to add?

Whether it’s through Spinal Energetics or other holistic practices, the key is to listen to your body, your energy, and your emotional needs. It is a journey and it’s a deeply personal one. I encourage everyone to approach it with curiosity and compassion for themselves. The more we can tune in and honour our bodies and true nature, the more balanced and fulfilled we can become.
