Dog-Friendly Beaches Near Brisbane

Surfs up for all paws

By Guest Styler | 19th March 2020

Surrounded by ocean, the beach is where we spend a great deal of our summer holiday’s, frolicking in the water and living our best lives. So, why should your furry friends miss out on all the fun? Bring them along to these dog-friendly beaches for the ultimate day out for all.

The Spit | Southport, Gold Coast

Located just North of SeaWorld overlooking spectacular views of Coolangatta, The Spit beach is the ideal dog-friendly area where your pup can run free. With dog bowls placed around the beach, your dog can socialise with other pups on the long stretch of sand and keep hydrated, too. If your pup is feeling a little more adventurous, the Northside of the ocean is protected by a seaway wall so your dog (or yourself!) can go swimming while being protected by northerly currents.

Biggera Waters Beach | Gold Coast

Situated at Biggera Waters behind Harbour Town Shopping Centre, this beach is open to dogs wearing a leash from 8am-4pm. Though if your pup wants to ditch that leash be sure to arrive from either 5am-8am or 4pm-7pm only!

Tallebudgera Off-Leash Dog Beach | Palm Beach, Gold Coast

An off-leash dog beach equals dog paradise! The tip of the Northern part of Palm Beach is where you can take your dogs off their lead and let them be free! (Just make sure they don’t pass the first set of flags – you don’t want your pup getting in trouble!) If you start to feel a little thirsty or peckish, stroll over to James Street, Burleigh Heads for a fruity drink or smoothie.

Buddina Dog Beach | Buddina, Sunshine Coast

If you’re wanting to take your fur-baby up north for a quieter beach day, then Buddina is the perfect place for you! Off-leash from Mawarra Street to Talinga Street (on the beach of course) your beloved dog can soak up the Sunshine Coast’s salty air. Once the sun is beginning to set you can make your way up the stairs with the dog leash on to catch the scenic views from the lighthouse!

Stumers Creek | Coolum, Sunshine Coast

If your dog is scared of rough waves, Stumers Creek is the ideal spot. With a creek located very close by to the beach, they can relax and enjoy their time in calm waters. To keep both you and your dog happy and nourished, check-out the regular food van that pops up.
