Love me some denim!

By Lucy Stephens | 4th June 2015

So it finally feels as though winter has arrived - as I sit here writing, it's officially 11 degrees, which is goddam cold for a Brisbane-it's-barely-bloody-June morning.

I had my girlfriend's wedding on the weekend, and it turned out it was much warmer than expected - a positively balmy 26 degrees, so I hardly needed the 100 percent cashmere pashmina I borrowed from my friend's mum, and then proceeded to lose somewhere between Up on Constance, Zuri and getting home in a cab (eek - sorry Di!)

Anyways, this week my editor's picks is all about denim - washed, white, dark or distressed - it's the perfect staple whatever the season really, but it's pretty much my work wardrobe as the temperature drops.

Here are my editor's picks for this week. Enjoy!

Editor's Picks | Denim

1. AG Jeans with legging ankle $389, Calexico

These bad boys are a fave of Olivia Palermo, Taylor Swift and Hillary Duff, and it's easy to see why - they fit like a glove, and come in every perfect shade of denim (and even a couple of brights). They're a little exy, but they're an investment piece!

2. Phillipe Model Sneakers $449, Calexico

Ok, so strictly there's no denim on this, but the blue is that perfect denim shade I look for every time I buy a new pair of jeans. It's a gorgeous mid blue, and when it's paired with turquoise leopard print, who can say no? For more sneaker inpso, check out our story on 7 sneakers you need this season.

3. Denim Seamed Shirtdress $89.95, General Pants Co

I love me a shirt dress! A denim shirt dress has got to the ultimate in lazy-chic - one piece, super washable, and cute to boot. You could dress this up with tights, a fedora and a chunky knit scarf or faux fur vest for a warmer winter look too.

4. Bobbi Brown nail polish $23, Myer

I used to be a nailpolish fiend - every colour, I owned, and every day, it was something different. I think it may have been because for years I worked in hospitality and wasn't allowed to wear anything other than a slick of clear gloss, so when I changed into the field of journalism, I suddenly had a shade to match every outfit. Loving the darker tones in winter, and I think this will really dress up any denim look instantly. Loves it!

5. Carpe Noctem Pillow $55, Down That Little Lane

More cushions! Although I've never had a denim cushion before, and I like that this is a cute take on a line made famous by one of my favourite actors in one of my fave movies (Robin Williams - bless his soul - in Dead Poet's Society). Seize the night!

6. Camilla & Marc Davinci Duffle bag $104, Kokolu

One can never have enough bags - whether it's handbags, overnighters or carry-on luggage, I intend on amassing a quality collection. This is very cute for the gym, and if you're rocking the sports luxe look, you can totally pull it off with this too.

7. Jeanbag made from recycled denim $499, Down That Little Lane

Another fab denim find. I'm not sure it would work in my current grey/turquoise/white abode at home, but this would look very cool in an uber hipster, industrial space.

8. Mini Tie Denim headband $5.95, Colette by Colette Hayman

This is saaaah cute! I've decided cute headbands like this are the way to go when it comes to rocking hair that needs washing this season. Throw on some boyfie jeans, a crisp white shirt and your favourite sneakers, and you're good to go!

9. Shapeless Chambray Romper $166.45, Free People

Demin rompers or playsuits are all the rage at the moment. This one has two thin straps that go down the back, and cute and easy zip detailing down the front. It's like the onesie that you can wear out. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but if I was a mum - I reckon this would be my almost daily uniform. But I'm not a mum - and I'd still wear it!

10. Denim bunting $49.95, Down That Little Lane

OMG - how cute is this? I feel like this is the kind of bunting you can keep up all year - no celebrations necessary. The best thing with this would also be that it's machine washable, so you could keep bringing it out for birthdays year after year.

Don't forget to check out  my Ed's Picks from previous weeks - Greys and wood, Navy and raspberry reds, Khaki and tortoiseshell.
