Variety is the spice of life, so why not shake things up in the dating arena, too? Whether you’re entering your dating era or celebrating 20 years of marriage (congrats!), take it up a notch with these fun and quirky date night ideas that aren’t just dinner and drinks.

Soak Bath House

If your idea of a good time is sipping and soaking your troubles away, then book a spa day at Soak Bathhouse. Located on West Village’s top floor, be prepared to be transported to a Balinese oasis, right in the heart of a bustling suburb. Indulge in a 90-minute soak and sip and a refreshing cold plunge dip, or if you want a little slice of heaven for just the two of you, book in for a private infrared sauna session.

Yatala Drive-In Cinema
Two tickets please! If you’re an old-fashioned kind of romantic, turn it up a notch and take your next date night on the road. Enter Yatala Drive-in Cinema, where the flicks are modern but the restaurant is vintage. Modelled on the authentic American-style diner, complete with Cadillac couches, Elvis statues, and posters from yesteryear, you can sneak in a pre-screening feast while the jukebox slings songs from the 1950s all night long.

Vertigo Restaurant
Ok, we know we said no dinner dates, but this certainly ain’t your standard corner booth affair. Get ready to take your love sky high at Vertigo Restaurant – hoisted 17-metres above ground, Brisbane Powerhouse’s latest foodie venture isn’t your typical dinner date. Some menu highlights include fresh burrata served with heirloom tomatoes, basil, and aged balsamico, and a delectable Italian fish stew (a seafood lover’s dream). All complete with a casual abseil down to the ground. Nothing says “I love you” like strapping yourself to a tall building with no easy exit strategy in sight, right?

Dance lessons are the perfect way to showcase the fun and loveable side of you, even if you do have two left feet. Sashay your way to Dancecorp Dance Studios located in Woolloongabba, where you and your boo can feel closer in more ways than one. Be guided through classic partner dances like the waltz, the foxtrot, the tango, and swing. We’re not saying you’ll be able to recreate the lift scene by the end of class, but you never know until you try!
