These beautiful blooms have a surprising second life.

By Siobhan Taylor | 16th June 2017

It’s a given that everyone loves to receive flowers. Thoughtful and beautiful, a bouquet is the perfect way to tell someone you are thinking of them. Well, until the flowers die three days later and take all the sunlight with them.

Nourish Posy Co believe beautiful bouquets can be practical as well as decorative and have created an alternative that gives beautiful bunches a second life. Their bouquets – made of seasonal vegetables, fresh herbs and edible flowers – are more than just decorative, tasty tchotchkes. Each comes with two recipe cards for simple nourishing meals to encourage the recipient to be creative with how they use and dispose of their bunch. It encourages people to think outside the basket and get creative with gift giving.

Owner Ashleigh Bates says the idea for Nourish Posy Co came from her background in the hospitality industry. “After working in various restaurants over the past 10 years, you have to notice the significant shift to sustainable produce and the growing trend focusing on health and well-being,” Ashleigh says. “So I had the idea to offer a functional alternative to flowers. Something that is beautiful, however also has a beneficial and nourishing purpose. I believe nourishment comes in many forms: a hug, a sympathetic ear or, in this case, a big bunch of goodness.”

Ordering a bunch from Nourish Posy Co is easy as pie. Orders can be placed via phone or email (with website ordering coming soon), and same-day Brisbane delivery is guaranteed if your order is placed before 2pm. Orders are prepared daily with limited availability, so it is recommended you order ahead of time to secure your tasty treats.

Be extra sweet this winter and treat your loved ones to a beautiful bouquet and tasty dinner, and maybe they’ll share their spoils with you!

Brisbane gal through and through, Siobhan is an avid cider-enthusiast and a keen believer in brunch (house deposit be damned). When she's not at the beach, she can be spotted lusting after makeup she can't afford, re-watching The Office (the US version, obviously) or annoying her friends with her insane astrology theories (she's an Aquarius, FYI).
