10 Events Happening In Brisbane This Month That You Should Add To Your Calendar

From beer to music festivals, September is sure to put a creative spring in your step!

By Elly Beard | 4th September 2018

After months of cold mornings, Spring is finally on the horizon. Following the arrival of a new season is the beginning of Brisbane’s most creative and exciting events. Ranging from live bands to opera, local markets to local beer, Brisbane is lighting September up and already has us turning those Netflix screens down!

BIGSOUND Festival | 4-7 September

Sometimes we can be a little too preoccupied with the huge festivities happening in places like Byron Bay (Splendour in the Grass we miss you already), that we forget about the upcoming bands on our own doorstep. This year is Brisbane’s 17th incarnation of BIGSOUND. With up to 150 new Australian artists, there’s no doubt that you’ll be able to claim at least one as the artist you listened to before everyone else.

Brisbane Writers Festival | 6 – 9 September

This goes out for those of us with twitching fingers that love to type out our creative ideas, or others who simply enjoy the written words of others. The beginning of September holds our yearly Brisbane Writers Festival. Not only are we expecting seminars held by both beloved Australian and worldwide authors, but you’re also invited to a mixture of workshops ranging from poetry to cyanotype printing. If you’re not already immersed in the world of verbal and story-like creativity, perhaps this is your chance to pick up a new hobby.

Brisbane Twilight Markets | 7 September

There’s nothing like that Twilight Market atmosphere and ambience. Only happening throughout Brisbane four times a year, September the 7th will host the second one of the year. Located in the heart of our beautiful city, the Twilight Markets is an independent Brisbane trader with only products that are 100% Brisbane-made for sale. Not only can our shopping needs be taken care of, but the night is topped off with live music, local food vendors, and craft workshops.

Ball Park Music & San Cisco | 8 September

The opening night of Brisbane Festival is already promising to be a good one and we believe that these guys deserved their own devotion from us music lovers. Is it possible that two groups of incredibly talented individuals would pair up to give us an incredible introduction to Spring? Definitely. Not only will these Hottest 100 inclusions be performing for a night of epic entertainment, but Ruby Fields & Tia Gostelow will also perform as special guests for this one-night performance.

Entertained by D’Arne Sleeman, an international performer, enjoy opera beneath the stars with a complimentary drink and grazing tables to nibble on throughout the night.
