As Christmas rolls into town, so do the festive markets! The best thing about Christmas markets is that they seamlessly combine family time, lunch, festive activities, walking the dog, and Christmas shopping (as well as a cheeky beer if you are lucky). There is nothing like wandering through the stalls, packed full of locally made goodies, to get inspo for all the hard to buy for people on your shopping list. Plus, if you are struggling to get into the Christmas spirit a spot of carol singing will have you well on your way. While not as picturesque as the winter wonderland pictured above, our Christmas market offerings in Brisbane are still well worth a visit. Here’s our list of Brisbane’s best Christmas markets to make you fall in love with the festive season all over again.

Christmas on Cribb – Milton Christmas Markets | Thurs, Dec 21

Didn’t someone say Thursday is the new Friday? Just four days before Christmas, every day is a weekend (isn’t it?). Get in the spirit and have a few cheeky festive brews at the Christmas on Cribb pop-up bars between 4pm and 10pm on Thursday, December 21. There is entertainment for the family too with free activities throughout the evening. Watch live music across the two stages, pick up all the fresh food and ingredients for your Christmas Day lunch, and buy a few Christmas presents while you are there (your Secret Santa ideas will probably be far more creative three beers down anyway).

South Bank’s Christmas Village | Fri, Dec 15 – Sat, Dec 23

Love Christmas carols so much you wish you had an excuse to sing them every day? Well now you do. Each evening at 7pm there will be a 30-minute sing-along concert at the South Bank Christmas Village. This Christmas shopper’s paradise is the nearest thing to a European Christmas market that you will find in Brisbane, and we are so excited. Wear out the kids with a festive mini train ride, free craft and dance activities, and a visit to Santa (4pm-8pm daily). Wander through stalls selling gingerbread houses, artisan festive cards and delectable Christmas puddings, along with hand-made jewellery, candles and wooden toys. Visit Stanley Street for the enchanted festive atmosphere from 3pm-10pm, December 15-23.

Caboolture Christmas Twilight Markets | Sat, Dec 9

Driving up to the beach this weekend? From 4pm – 9pm on Saturday check out the Caboolture Christmas Twilight Markets and fireworks. Enjoy a bite to eat from a selection of food vendors, stroll through stalls for some Christmas shopping and watch the fireworks brighten up the night sky. This will be an evening packed full of family entertainment including monster truck rides, balloon animals, and a visit to Santa himself.

Gold Coast Christmas Markets | Fri, Dec 15 – Sun, Dec 17

Whether you are a local or visiting for the holidays don’t miss out on the GC’s glorious Christmas markets. Running for three days from 4pm-10pm at the Broadwater Parklands, you can wander through a menagerie of stalls selling interesting gifts and delightful festive foods. Watch the man in red himself arrive each afternoon at 5.30pm by helicopter, and then grab a free photo with him until 7pm. Other photo opportunities include a giant inflatable snow globe, and roving Christmas characters… if you still need that perfect family Christmas card shot, the GC Christmas Markets have you covered! If that wasn’t enough there is also face painting, crafts such as bauble making, and amusement park rides. Don’t miss the Christmas Concert at 5pm on Sunday, December 17, or the outdoor screening of Polar Express at 7pm on Saturday, December 16.

Riverside Gardens Night Christmas Markets | Thurs, Dec 14

Watch the City’s Botanical Gardens transform into a magical wonderland of glistening lights and festive cheer for the Riverside Garden’s Christmas Night Market spectacular! From 4pm-10pm watch fire twirlers, jugglers, and stilt walkers as you listen to live music performed by The Fergies, and sing along to some Christmas carols. A perfect spot to pick up a few Christmas gifts, while you eat some scrumptious food. P.S. like many others, this market is dog-friendly for the win!

Christmas Markets at Clovely Estate, Red Hill | Sun, Dec 17

The Christmas markets at Clovely Estate combine two of the best things about December – shopping and wine. Wanting to channel the European Christmas market vibe the team behind the markets have drafted in local Brisbanites to set up stalls offering festive handmade decorations, crafty gift ideas, delish food, and live entertainment. Open from 4pm-8pm on Sunday, December 17, enjoy the festive village market feel and support the local community of artists by picking up a present or two. Also, FYI the Clovely Estate cellar door will be open, so if the Christmas shopping gets too much just stop in for a quick vino, or some wine inspired Christmas presents perhaps?

Museum Twilight Markets | Fri, Dec 15

Just a 40-minute drive from the Brisbane CBD, the historic Ipswich Railway Museum will be hosting a night market with a difference. Offering Torchlight Tours of the museum ($10), this is a must for any trainspotter or history enthusiast. Entry to the market is $2 (free for under 15s), but for the small fee, you can enjoy food trucks, live music, craft workshops, a pop-up bar, and a range of stalls selling locally made products. No pups allowed at this one as it’s a museum. Open 5pm-9pm Friday, December 15.
