Eventful Times Ahead

Queue the soirées! Brisbane has a new full-service events company with expert Hannah Tilakumara at the helm.

By Stephanie Brownlee | 2nd December 2014

With a diverse work background in hospitality, marketing, events and communication, Hannah Tilakumara founded her events company of the same name on a wealth of experience, a love of style and appreciation for culture. Hannah’s own ‘east meets west’ wedding, inspired by her husband’s Sri Lankan culture is a testament to her flair for marrying a variety of themes to enhance any occasion.

“I’ve always wanted to have my own events business – it was just a matter of timing and finding the way that would work for me. I had so many ideas, plans and templates I had created over the past few years during moments of enthusiasm. In mid-2014 I felt ready, so I established Hannah Tilakumara Events.”

Hannah, her assistant and a fantastic ‘virtual team’ (an idea she devised from her corporate roles) of freelance suppliers, including a graphic designer, a florist and a stylist, cater for a variety of events. From private occasions and weddings, to corporate and large-scale promotional functions, the business specialises in full-service management based on clients’ event brief, vision, budget and required level of support.

Hannah works with a range of local suppliers and designers to deliver truly bespoke events for each new client.

“You can achieve so much if you have the right people with the right expertise in your corner,” Hannah continues. “I really love all of the events because it’s about celebrating that special occasion at that point in time. A promotional or corporate event can be just as much of a celebration as a private affair, because it ultimately comes down to the people. It may be a celebration of a major milestone or a showcase event that makes or breaks a new product range – you never know what the day really represents to someone and the work that has gone on behind the scenes to get there.”

“I’ve just finished pulling together our goals for the next 12 months and I’m really excited to see everything unfold. It’s going to be a big year, with a lot of growth. There are some fantastic events coming up and we will have lots of inspiration and ideas for creating and hosting smaller events in your own home on our social media channels.”
