You know those people who just GLOW with health and happiness? Surprisingly, it’s not witchcraft. They just know things we don’t. And they actually put those things into practice.
1. Healthy People Don’t Overeat
Those who walk the path of the healthy know when to stop eating. They know Mum’s demands to finish everything on your plate wasn’t the best practice and adjusted accordingly. On a scale of one to 10, where one is starvation pains and 10 is stuffed so much you feel ill, you should only ever eat to a five. A five means you are no longer hungry, but not full either.
2. They Get Up Earlier
People with super healthy lifestyles know that even an extra 20 minutes in the mornings can help them get on top of things. The amount of things healthy people can get done before work puts the rest of us to shame.
3. They Carry a Water Bottle
You know how we’re supposed to drink a certain amount of water each day? Healthy people actually DO that. They also know that being hydrated not only helps your health internally, but can have a positive impact on skin. Problems with calorie control? Water helps that too, making people feel fuller for longer, and delays hunger pangs. And when healthy people aren’t drinking water, it’s not because they’ve turned to sugary soft drinks. They’re having a big, nutrient-rich green smoothie, instead.
4. They Schedule Workouts
There’s no such thing as “I don’t have time to exercise” for these people. They know even 10 minutes here and there makes a difference. They look at the week ahead, mark in time to move, and never deviate. They know exercise gives them more energy to get on with their day, or chill out after a big day. There’s always time for Netflix or Instagram afterwards.
5. They Do Pilates
Healthy people know that the benefits of Pilates extend way beyond mere fitness. They know it improves muscle flexibility, posture, coordination and balance. They know it increases concentration and muscle awareness at the same time as decreasing stress. They also know it helps burn calories ALL. DAY. LONG. And if the Victoria’s Secret Angels swear by it, we know it’s gotta work!
6. They Treat Themselves … Within Reason
They know food that comes in a wrapper isn’t a real treat to those who treat their body as a temple. Healthy people know it's OK to indulge every now and then, but they know that moderation is key to their success. Most of all they know to make sure their treats are good quality, so they’re are worth every darn calorie and at least have a little nutritional value!
7. They Don’t Compare Their Bodies to Others’
They not only have healthy bodies but healthy minds about their bods too. They don’t aim for perfection, instead they aim to get the best bodies they can for themselves. They don’t compare because they know all too well that comparison is the thief of joy.
8. They Plan Ahead
For EVERYTHING. We already know they plan their workouts but healthy people take time to plan their meals to ensure they don’t need to nip down to the bakery for a snack. They plan outings so they can ensure the right mental balance between self time and social time. They prioritise tasks so they know they're on top of things. And they LOVE making lists; a well thought-out to-do list gives healthy people a jolt of motivation and a sense of accomplishment. Because how darn satisfying is it to cross all the items off a list? Answer: VERY!
9. They Take Time For Themselves
Healthy people realise that, in order to be of help to anyone, they need to take time out for themselves to rejuvenate. They know taking time for self-care will mean they can roll with life’s punches much better than if they burn themselves out.
