7 Ways To Release Your Inner Child At The EKKA

7 Ways To Release Your Inner Child At The EKKA

BABY ANIMALS. That’s all.

By Amber Lowther | 2nd August 2016

Ekka time is well and truly upon us and I can’t sit still thinking about all the food I’m going to consume, all the showbags I’m going to buy and all the FUN I’m going to have! The Ekka is an excuse to unleash your inner child and there ain’t a problem with that! See how you can do just that from the list below:

This is my FAVOURITE part. Getting your favourite showbags is like Christmas! There’s nothing more exciting than checking out the showbag guide and taking newspaper clippings of your favourite Ekka deals. Round up your dollars and get ready to have a flashback.

Strawberry Sundaes

One of the best parts about the Ekka is sitting down and digging into a delicious strawberry sundae! 145,000 sundaes are sold each year on average and approximately 10 tonnes of strawberries are used to make the Ekka Strawberry Sundaes every year.

Take your significant other to watch the fireworks for a romantic end to a fun day! The fireworks this year will feature a Pyrotechnic Tower never before seen in Aus. They’ll be fired from 49 positions, so they’re impossible to miss! Sit back and view some spectacular fireworks while listening to a mashup of jukebox classic hits!

Animal Nursery

BABY ANIMALS! This is not something you can just grow out of. Whether you’re five or 50, baby animals trump almost everything. Having a bad day? Think of baby goats, ducks, piglets and heaps more to melt your heart. Heck, go cradle a baby chick and try not to have a breakdown over their cuteness.

Face Painting

I am a staunch advocate for face painting. Always have been, always will be. I don’t care if I’m in my 20s, I will have my face painted, thank you very much.

Sideshow Alley

For those who love an adrenalin rush, head down to Sideshow Alley for a range of rides and games to choose from. Fly 360 degrees through the air with the Freestyle, get spun around on the Breakdance or take it easy on the Dodgem Cars. Don’t forget to try a carnival game and use some tricks to win a massive plush toy! That’s the best part.

Fairy Floss & Dagwood Dogs

As if I even need to explain why you should have either of these. Yeah, fairy floss is sticky, yeah, it’s full of sugar. Yeah, dagwood dogs aren’t healthy, yeah, they’re a mission to eat. But they’re both DELICIOUS and totally worth face-planting into. You can find these classics all around the Ekka so dig in!

SIDE NOTE: Can I just say that the Triceratops Tiara Tea Party sounds like a damn good time waiting to happen?! I’ll be there.
