Racecourse Road is one of Brisbane’s most charming and oldest streets and areas. Despite the development of new shopping and lifestyle precincts, Racecourse Road has managed to remain fave, thanks to the area's bevy of beauty, food and lifestyle offerings set against a backdrop that includes the racecourses, tree lined streets, and some of the very best views of the Brisbane River.  But there are a few things and hidden gems that you may not have been aware of - until now

We'll let you in on just a couple...

1. Baguette Restaurant

Baguette dish

Yes, it's very well-known, but it's a bonafide icon that tends to be overlooked by the younger social set. Serving a mixed menu of pub favourites and French a la carte, this is the city’s oldest French restaurant – without the pretence, and packing loads of charm. Whether you’re treating your mum to a ladies lunch special, the man to Tuesday steak night, or yourself to Foie Gras and Champagne, Baguette has got you covered. With a chef’s hat under their belt, and being a Top Rated European Restaurant on Dimmi, it’s no surprise new resturants are flocking to the area to join the ranks alongside one of Brisbane’s most-loved.

2. Taro’s Ramen Ascot

Despite being an age-old dish in Japan, ramen is developing a following among foodies as a must-eat (and heavily Instagrammed) dish. With his city store achieving an almost cult-like following, not many Brisbane-ites are aware of the newly opened second location of Taro’s Ramen in Ascot. Serving up his signature ramen dishes, as well as many more exclusive dishes (just for the Ascot location), the new restaurant will provide a more relaxed vibe than it’s city-dwelling sibling, making it the perfect spot for a weekend noodle feast.

3. Workshop 14 Bar (at Hamilton Harbour)

Ann worked in Hamilton selling cards and giftware for many years before she decided to retire. Bored of retirement and living in Hamilton Harbour, she decided to get back in the game and try something completely out new – a craft beer bar and cafe. Serving local beers and local produce, she wants to support QLD farmers as much as Queensland craft brewers. With a focus on simplicity, Ann hopes to contribute to the reinvention of the riverside precinct.

7. Fonzie Abbott Espresso Co

Fonzie Abbott | Racecourse Road Precinct

Wanting to drink only the best of the best coffee - all the time - Dan decided to source, buy, blend and roast his own high-grade beans from around the world to create a unique and delicious coffee blend. The name comes from the alter ego Dan believes everybody has, that’s a little naughty and bad – but also needs to come out and play every once in a while. He asks that when you come to his place, you let your sweet FA out.
