We all need a little colour in our lives, so whether you’re into art or cooking, card making or life drawing, we’ve got 5 unexpected ways to discover your new passion through creative workshopping outside Brisbane.

Sometimes you have to venture out of your comfort zone and your normal surroundings to find your crafty side or rediscover your creative abilities. We have put together a list of 5 diverse creative workshops for you to have a crack at while experiencing life and art in the City of Logan.

1. Curry Cooking Classes

Your one-stop gateway to cooking divine Indian cuisine! Come and experience a unique cooking class where generations of culinary secrets and tips are revealed, so you can create authentic Indian cuisine at home. With more than 40 years of experience, Eliza Sequeira will teach you how to cook authentic Indian cuisine with step by step, easy to follow instructions. Learn to prepare mouth-watering kebabs, chicken tikkas, exotic meat curries, delicious vegetarian curries and melt-in-the mouth naan breads. Classes are held on Saturdays and Sundays and vary between 3 to 4 hours, using fresh ingredients to create delicious, healthy and wholesome meals as cooked in a traditional Indian home.

2. Mosaic and Leadlight Mirrors Workshops

A mosaic art tile or decorative leadlight mirror can be a colourful addition to your indoor or outdoor spaces. Each course held at Sunlight Studio is three hours in duration, which allows you to unwind, relax and take it slowly, piece your masterpiece together with each individual glass cutting, etc. The classes are run twice a week every Thursday, 10am to 1pm and 6pm to 9pm. Tools and guidance are supplied, however a fee of $25 is required to provide you with the necessary materials.

3. Airbrushing Workshop

For those who lead busy lives, this artistic airbrushing workshop is offered afterhours as a night course over 8 weeks. You will learn the art of airbrushing techniques to create portraits, landscapes, wildlife, fantasy art or cartoon work, through various stroke and shading systems. Everything is provided within the workshop at no additional cost and you can keep your creations at the end of the course.

4. Card Making Sessions

We all send and receive cards for special occasions, but what would make these even more special and unique is creating custom designs yourself. At Logan West Library every second and fourth Tuesday a month from 10am to 1pm, and at Beenleigh Library every second and fourth Monday from 10am to 12pm, you can join the card making experts to create your own masterpieces and share inspiration, tips and tricks with the other community group members.

5. Life Drawing Course

Strictly over 18, this workshop is not for the easily offended or bashful. During this workshop you will have the chance to sketch real models, completely nude, in an arty nature. This course is held over a 6-week duration, every Tuesday night.

Logan Art Gallery: Celebrating local and visiting artists, this gallery displays diverse practices of visual arts, craft and design work throughout. They also have a range of exhibitions to wander through at any given time.

Logan Entertainment Centre: Be entertained with a variety of theatre productions, concerts and live acts, including Dave Hughes in September!

Beenleigh Theatre Group: This lively community theatre puts on four major productions a year, including musicals and plays that are original works and modern reinterpretations of classic favourites.
