Brisbane winter is seriously underrated. The climate we enjoy mid-year (for about two weeks) is comparable to an English summer, so we really should be more grateful.
So rug up, kick back, and crack open some wine. Here are 13 things that every Brisbanite can relate to:
1. Official Brisbane winter uniform = jeans, jumper, thongs
2. Actually enjoying blow drying your hair for once
3. Secretly missing the sound of the ceiling fan at night
4. Acting as if any weather below 23 degrees is positively inhumane
5. Turning on the oven! Firing up the crock pot! Cranking up the stove!
6. No longer having an excuse to survive on cheese boards and ice-cream (believe us, we tried)
7. Being able to snuggle on the couch without sticking to it #humidity
8. Finally being able to add a little hot water to your shower after months of only turning on the cold tap
9. Or having a hot bath - the novelty of it!
10. Footy fever! Men in tiny shorts brings out the Queenslander in all of us
11. Being able to step outside in the evening without hungry mosquitoes feasting on your ankles
12. Jumping on the opportunity to drink richly-flavoured red wine without breaking a sweat
13. Knowing that Brisbane winter hasn’t truly ended until the jacarandas are in bloom
