The Ultimate Itinerary: 12 Hours In The River City With The Royals

Putting Brisbane on the map!

By Scarlett Twine | 16th October 2018

The Duke and Duchess have arrived in Australia, creating history yet again with their newest announcement. We were there to witness their glamorous wedding and yesterday it was announced that a royal baby is on the way! Due in Spring 2019, this baby will have the ability to change the royal hierarchy.

Landing on Australian soil, they first arrived in Sydney to kick off the Royal Tour. Their exact plans of travel are yet to be announced but we know they will be travelling to New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji as well as Sydney, Melbourne, Fraser Island and Dubbo.

If they were coming to Brisbane we would want to show them an absolute ball. We have come up with an action-packed day of activities, which is sure to put Brisbane on the map for their next Australian Tour. In true Aussie spirit, we’re offering a unique experience. And look, it may not be what you expect, but it sounds pretty darn great to us…so let’s get started.

To kick off a Saturday morning, we first would like to show them how Aussies can master an Eggs Benny. Miss Jones is first on the list, whilst enjoying the paparazzi’s who will most likely be flocking like seagulls who have spotted a hot chip. They can dig into their hash and cheddar waffles with avocado, chorizo, chipotle hollandaise and poached eggs.

Next on the list is a trip to GOMA; The Gallery of Modern Art. Here is where Harry and Meghan can dip into our culture viewing both the Australian Art Collection as well as the Indigenous Australian Art Collection.

Moving on from GOMA, they’ll need to travel across the bridge. The best way to travel across the bridge in style is with Brisbane Bike Cabs. (Those green carriages with the bike rider at the front? Come on, we’ve all had a go and don’t lie, it was a one of a kind experience and a must try!) Meghan can put her favourite tunes and on and off they’ll go to the Valley to have a good ol’ time at Holy Moly. We take that Harry himself is a bit of a larrikin in the best way possible – he knows how to have a good time, so we’d shout him a beer and have a bit of a putt!

After Holy Moly, we know that they will be holy hungry. Honto is next on the list! They can enjoy an amazing lunch full of traditional Japanese goodies. They can try a daily sashimi selection with house-made bonito soy and fresh wasabi. Better yet, they can crunch into a Karaage chicken roll with karashi mayo and baby gem. With this, Harry can knock back one of their famous whiskies and, of course, the beautiful Meghan might have to stick to the waters for the moment.

Moving on after a glorious lunch, they are going to be feeling pretty tired. But the day isn’t over, so they might have to sink down an espresso because in true Aussie spirit we’re off to the Suncorp stadium to kick the footy around and may even stop into the XXXX Brewery for one of their famous beer tours.

Once the afternoon activities have come to a halt, we know they’ll be feeling more than tired. So with that, we will check them into the W Brisbane at North Quay. Here they can relax and, who knows, flick through some Netflix if they feel!

Nap time is over, and the amazing Beccofinos is next on the list for dinner. Starting with their infamous crispy, yet soft calamari, devouring their mouth-watering duck ragout, whilst washing it all down with an Aperol Spritz…once again Meghan, we’re sorry but you’ll have to have a mocktail here. Heck, they may as well go all out and order a margarita pizza too!

Our next option would be to go bar hopping along Eagle Street but we think Meghan would probably be a bit fed up with all the waters and mocktail’s by now. So we’ll catch them both a break and they can head to back to the W after their unique experience in Brissy – with the best tour guides out.
