If you haven’t had the pleasure of visiting The Grounds of Alexandria in Sydney, it’s time to say goodbye to your FOMO because we’ve discovered the Brisbane equivalent.
A hidden gem located just 2km from the city, Brisbane’s Victoria Park is the place for everything from Sunday brunch and date night to weddings and birthday events. No longer do we have to be envious of our southern counterparts as we’ve found the ultimate Brisbane destination for a large dose of new foodie trends and #eventgoals.
We break down the reasons why Victoria Park feels like Brisbane’s version of Sydney’s iconic, The Grounds.
Victoria Park Bistro has always been known to have one of the most magnificent views of the Brisbane city skyline, but it seems that lately the seasonal menu has been getting more insta attention than the view. And not just for its exceptional flavours. The award-winning team of chefs source all the ingredients on the breakfast, lunch and dinner menus locally as well as growing herbs and vegetables in Victoria Park’s very own growing gardens. But it’s not just the taste that has been creating hype, it’s the plate presentation that calls for the perfect photo op. The dishes are almost too pretty to eat. From French toast with almonds, and strawberries and cream for brekkie to slow-cooked BBQ glazed pork ribs with house slaw and chips for lunch, dishes need to be tasted (and seen) to be believed.
Move over Eat Street, there is a new market-inspired hot spot for foodies in town. Victoria Park’s new market carts offer many delicious treats and eats, including Dutch pancakes, burgers, German sausages and more. Soak up the sun and kick back while the chefs prep your meal in the various food carts spread around Victoria Park’s grounds. You can even indulge in a craft beer or a cocktail jug while you wait!
Even if you don’t have children yourself, Victoria Park’s new playground will have you wishing you were five years old again. From a rock-climbing wall to a repurposed farm tractor, the playground hosts equipment for children of all ages.
Seven days a week you will find not one but two traditional Italian chefs rolling dough and serving up fresh wood-fired pizzas in Victoria Park’s very own pizza kitchen. Each pizza is topped with local, seasonal produce as well as veggies and herbs from their on-site growing gardens. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are available.
Victoria Park offers the ultimate escape from the hustle and bustle of the city while being only minutes from the CBD. Whether you’re organising a small get-together, a business function, wedding, or an elaborate gala, each of Victoria Park’s eight function s offers individual style with distinctly different views and it’s all within 2km of the city. Best of all, free parking is available on-site for all visitors!
No we haven’t forgotten! For over a decade, Victoria Park has been famous for their golfing facilities including their 18 hole fully licensed scenic Putt Putt course, complete with swinging holes, bridges and water obstacles. Open until 10pm every night, if you’re ever at a loss for date night activities this course is a must do.
Victoria Park has created the ultimate destination experience that Brisbane has been waiting for. Make your next celebration Insta-worthy in one of the many different areas of Victoria Park. Open to the public seven days a week, you'll find them on Herston Rd, Kelvin Grove.
