Want One of 1000 Free Doughnut Time Doughnuts?

Of course you do. Here's how.

You have to ask yourself (or at least I have to ask myself) is there really anything we (I) love more in life than sweet treats or free things? No. The answer is no. And when they come together, it’s a win-win love affair.

So when Doughnut Time announced they’d be giving away 1000 free doughnuts, I started drooling immediately. Where is this? When is this? Why is this? And how many small children or commuters will I have to fight for my delicious doughy fix?

WELL, if you’re feeling up to the challenge, you’ll want to be in the Brisbane CBD on Monday, May 30 from 4pm to 6pm. This generous doughnut-giving fiesta is one of their notoriously grand opening events and it’s to celebrate their brand-spanking-new hole-in-the-wall store opening in the King George Square bus station.

After eight months of rapid expansion into the Sydney and Melbourne markets, the famous handmade Brisbane doughnut business will be opening its seventh Brisbane location. The tiny store will be styled as a vintage ticket booth in the entrance to the CBD’s King George Square bus station and it will most likely distract sweet-toothed commuters but that’s a legit reason to be late to work, right? Just hide your doughnuts from the bus driver to be safe. Chances are they’ll confiscate your treat and keep it all for themselves.

Damian Griffiths, Doughnut Time owner (and owner of other fine sweet-toothed establishments such as Mister Fitz and Chester Street Bakery) says the opportunity to move quickly and supply his famous handmade creations to a bustling hub of the Brisbane CBD was impossible to pass up.

“It’s been nearly six months since we opened a new store in Brisbane, which to me feels like an eternity. We’ve grown in cities across the country in a really short space of time, but we’ve never forgotten where we came from,” he says.

The King George Square store will be open from 7.30am seven days a week, with fresh doughnuts to be delivered from their nearby central kitchen in Fortitude Valley every few hours to ensure the highest quality product for CBD commuters and shoppers.

So now the only question is, what flavour will you pick for FREE on Monday? We have our heart-eyes on the Nutella-filled Love at First Bite, pistachio and brown butter glazed Butternut, the O.G. (aka original glazed), and the Ferrero No Share because accurate. No, seriously. That one’s mine.
