They’re our biggest vices, so it’s little wonder that news of a bar that specialises in both coffee and wine has got us all frothing. The Valley Wine Bar is the welcome new addition to the Brisbane bar scene that you need to know about.
The talented humans behind Melbourne’s Toorak Cellars, The Alps, Milton Wine Shop and The Moon are combining their vino know-how to create the ultimate wine experience by breathing fresh life into the Brisbane beverage scene and creating a new generation of wine lovers. Setting up shop on Alfred Street in Fortitude Valley, the sparkly new space will boast a morning coffee and pastry nook that will transform into a bar as the day draws on.
Drawing inspiration from the French style caves à manger (wine houses doubling as cafes or restaurants), this hybrid concept combining coffee and wine is the hero we all needed. With their exquisite list of Australian and imported producers, including the likes of Queensland producers such as La Petit Mort and Konpira Maru Wine Company, which have not been used in the respective Melbourne stores, it’s obvious that the team at The Valley Wine Bar have a love for an all-natural drop.
Venue Manager Lawrence Scanlon is amped to bring some exclusive drops to Queensland. “We don’t really see those producers in Melbourne, so it’s going to be fun to get them on the Queensland shelves,” he says.
Of course, all that sipping will leave you hungry, so it’s just as well you can pair your wine with the standard bar snacks of charcuterie, cheese, pate and jerky.
