I LOVE a good Green Smoothie. Most are so packed with essential goodness it's hard not to feel totally revitalized after knocking one back. Depending on what's in the mix, Green Smoothies are loaded with antioxidants and vitamins. It's an easy way to add to your daily dose of essential leafy greens which also satisfies hunger and offers maximized nutrition. I know... I'm a big fan. But thankfully I'm not the only one. Since the 'get healthy' obsession boomed, Green Smoothies have begun popping up all over Brisbane. So as an avid enthusiast of quality, vitamin-rich blends, I wanted to share my top 5 picks created by advocates of clean living...
Paleo Cafe has clean living down to an art. Their menu is completely free of dairy, grains, sugars and preservatives which our bodies struggle to digest. Their green smoothie is light, refreshing, and goes great with their delicious menu - spinach, cucumber, mango, pear and Raw C coconut water. Make sure you go with a few friends so you can grab some of the others to try - like the Revitalize: blueberries, banana, pineapple and coconut milk.
City - Bulimba - Paddington
PawPaw, Little PawPaw and Raw PawPaw are known for their fantastic healthy food and their green smoothies should be just as famous. The Tropic Green, packed with the basics like coconut water, spinach, cucumber and banana, also has a shot of Amazonia Raw Greens. One of the easiest ways to get all the vitamins you need into your body, this supplement contains a full spectrum of green specific ingredients - leafy greens, herbs, sprouts, juices, algae & grasses. It's alkalizing - did you know disease can't survive in an alkaline environment? - and it's vegan friendly.

Corner Store Café
It feels like home at Corner Store Cafe, probably because it's housed in a renovated turn-of-the-century cottage. Their take on the green smoothie - kale, celery, chia seeds, banana, pineapple, coconut water and ice - is super refreshing and ideal for hot summer afternoons in Brisbane. You can also add honey if you like it a little sweeter or spinach to make sure your body gets fully flushed with essential leafy greens.

The next local on my list, Bulimba's Cocobliss, was founded by two ladies who are firm believers in living healthy lifestyles and nourishing their bodies from the inside out. The smoothies here are creamy and nutrient-rich, packed with kale, spinach, mango, banana and your choice of base; coconut water, almond milk, soy milk, full cream or skim. In my opinion, coconut water is always the best and safest option as it goes well with greens. However after accidentally ordering almond milk recently (during a slightly dusty stuper), I discovered it actually goes quite well! While you're there make sure you check out their Acai bowls... #guiltfreegoodness

Last, but certainly not least, Sourced Grocer; my favourite Teneriffe breakfast spot. If you haven't already discovered it - I'd like to introduce the Urban Green: kale, mint, ginger, banana, apple, celery, cucumber (takes breath), coconut water, silverbeat and citrus (lemon or orange). They absolutely jam-pack this thing with as many yummy ingredients they can, delivering an intense hit of thick, greeny goodness. Grab one with breakfast - I recommend the hot smoked salmon on rye (try with avo or créme fraiche) or the black sticky rice if you're in the mood for something sweet - then check out the abundance of fresh, gourmet produce on offer.
