Brisbane’s City Botanic Gardens has received an addition in the form of the new The Gardens Club, which is to be opened on September 4. The Wise Foundation has appointed Alastair McLeod’s catering business, Al’FreshCo as caterer for selected events and weddings at the club.

The Gardens Club is located at the River Stage end of the gardens and is a new event space in the heritage listed Curators Cottage. The Wise Foundation is the operator of this venue that has been upgraded and refurbished after being originally built in 1905. Being a social enterprise facility, 100 percent of the profits from the business are returned to the community. Originally being a private home, The Gardens Club has warm, homely décor. It’s the perfect getaway for lunch from the busy CBD, as it’s only a short walk.

“Al’FreshCo is already going gangbusters providing catering in all kinds of businesses and in private homes but I’ve always got my eyes open looking for unique venue spaces, so when I was approached by the Wise Foundation to be their only preferred caterer for selected functions and weddings at this gorgeous historic venue it was a no brainer,” Alastair said.

”The fact that the profits from the business will return to the community through the Wise Foundation’s social initiatives and charitable support really sits well with me”.

The Gardens Club is able to host a variety of events such as weddings, corporate events and family gatherings. Those who choose to dine at The Gardens Club will be provided with sweeping views of the gardens and city lights as it is set to be one of the prettiest parts of the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens.

If you’d like to explore the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens, The Gardens Club has picnic baskets, which can be ordered 24 hours in advance which is the perfect last-minute date idea or if you’re looking to keep the kids entertained with cookies and poppas.

The picnic baskets offer delicious sandwich combinations or you can opt for an antipasto pack, which includes chocolate dipped strawberries. For those who would prefer a toasted sandwich and a coffee, The Gardens Club also has a café open seven days, 7:30am to 4:00pm. It’s your one-stop-shop for all things containing food and beautiful surrounds.
