Next time you're on the south side take a walk underneath the Story Bridge to check out two new dining destinations already creating a buzz among Brisbane foodies. The Story Bridge Hotel has relaunched their signature restaurant, Deery’s Restaurant & Smokehouse, and welcomes a new addition, Main St Bar & Eatery. With the same humble charm they’re known for, Deery’s flaunts an elegant new look, juxtaposing modern influences with classic design. Exposed brick, timber furnishings, an open ceiling revealing the original timber beams, polished wood floors and an open kitchen, are all elements you can expect in the revitalised space. Owners are adamant, “it’s not new, it’s evolved”. Executive Chef Jason Walker and Head Chef Adam Clements bring new menu ideas to the table, offering seasonally inspired culinary creations made from great local and international produce.
Expect mushrooms from Mumbai, Moreton Bay bugs, Mt Tamborine avos, and Mooloolaba prawns, alongside Deery’s famous char-grilled steaks. Craft beers on tap, new cocktails, and delicious homemade lemonade will also lend themselves well to Deery’s new neighbour. Main St Bar & Eatery houses an eclectic mix of design ideas, creating a cool contemporary vibe. Like a hidden bar under a bridge in Brooklyn, the feature wall filled with oversized vintage road signs sets the tone of the room. Retro timber benches, round booths and mismatched furniture create the ideal setting for afternoon beers or late night dining.
