You know what our two favourite words are? Boozy brunch. It’s the innovative meal that combines the laid-back feel of breakfast with the tipsy vibes of a Sunday sesh’. Boozy brunches aren’t anything new, but we’re constantly thrilled at the way local eateries continue to step up their brunch game. And now, the legends at Salt Meats Cheese are raising the bar yet again!
Throughout November and December, Salt Meats Cheese at Gasworks will be hosting Gnocchis & Mary’s, a special summer pop-up that combines gnocchi and Bloody Marys for a match made in boozy heaven! At Salt Meats Cheese, they boil and then pan-fry their gnocchi for a crunchiness that is similar to fritters. The gnocchi is then served up with 1 of 4 different Aussie toppings, depending on what you’re after.
There’s the Vegan Beets, which is beetroot gnocchi served with smashed avo, crunchy green pea spread, cherry tomatoes and Persian feta dukkah; Tassie Salmon, which is Gravlax, lime dressing, rucola and 2 poached eggs served on top of gnocchi and coconut sauce; The Almighty, which is SMC Mozzarella and tomato filled jumbo gnocchi served with crispy smokey bacon and baby kale topped with poached eggs; and, finally, the Nutella, which is decadent vanilla ice cream gnocchi topped with chocolate Nutella brownie and raspberry sauce.
Um, can we order all at once???
If you’re not so sure about gnocchi in the morning, they are happy to offer focaccia bread toast instead of gnocchi. We promise it’s just as delicious.
As for the Bloody Mary’s, there will be 4 different Mary’s made on their house mix (hand-made tomato juice mixed with house recipe Worcestershire sauce, mixed spices, Tamari sauce and apple cider vinegar – it’s vegan!). There will be the Classic Bloody Mary with vodka and Mary mix; a Bloody Maria made with Espolon white tequila, Mary mix and habanero lime; a Pecorino Mary made with Pecorino cheese-infused gin, Mary mix and cheese garnish; and the Virgin Mary, made with Mary mix and olives.
Oh, and because everyone has different tastes, they are even happy to adjust the heat level to exactly what you want! (Just between us, I’m a three-chilli-heat-level kinda drinker.)
The pop-up breakfast menu will be on offer until the end of the year, so make sure you swing in for a festive brunch with friends to celebrate. We’ll toast to that!
