Dog lovers and coffee lovers rejoice! Barko and Co is the newest, artisanal café opening up in Brisbane, and is getting our tails wagging with its friendly, dog-inclusive policy. While most café and restaurants turn their noses up at your best friend, Barko and Co is the newest offering in Brisbane that will change that.
Family-owned and run, the Murillo family (made up of mother, father, son and daughter) has a strong focus on sustainable and ethical practices and sourcing of all of their produce. With a menu full of gluten-free and vegan options, they are sure to cater to your whole crew and is bound to be your new social hotspot.
Coming soon to the picturesque suburb of Teneriffe, Barko and Co is set to open their doors in the first week of May in an old engine room at Submariners Walk at the Anzac Memorial Site on Macquarie Street. And with the weather getting chillier and the need for warm drinks intensifying, this café will be perfect for you to spend time with two of your best friends: coffee and your dog.

Get ready to listen to the sound of your dog’s paws clacking on the timber deck as you take your doggo out for a stroll or a run along the beautiful Teneriffe waterfront more often, because now you’ll have a perfect excuse to grab a cuppa after as Barko and Co are located along the River Walk of Teneriffe. Or if you’re not so keen on the bean, there will be plenty of other refreshing options including kombucha, smoothies and juices.
Barko and Co are self-described ethical coffee-makers and super food specialists, and while they’re keeping their menu under their paws, we do know that their coffee is sure to be a winner. With coffee beans from Mr Coffee’s, imported from Columbia, their brews will be rich in flavour and depth. And you’ll be proud to know that the café is not just animal-friendly, but also environmentally friendly as well. They will be using HuskeeCup to pour their drinks in, which are made from recyclable materials from coffee beans and are designed to reduce as much waste as possible.
Be sure to keep an eye out on their ‘gram @barko.andco for more updates!
