A hot ticket item with the ladies, the Story Bridge Hotel’s Petite Eye Fillet is causing a sizzle. Just the right size, at 200g, the steak is big enough to satisfy the hunger pangs without needing to unbutton.
Thanks to grain feeding for 70 days in South East Queensland’s Darling Downs, the rich flavouring of this steak is second to none – seriously, I’ve tried many steaks in my time and this was the best! 500 of these steaks are sold each week, which just goes to show you how delicious they truly are.
For the sides, choose from lightly golden chips and coleslaw or fluffy creamed potatoes and steamed greens. Attempting to be healthy, as I always am, I opted for the veges and was pleasantly surprised with the crisp, fresh flavour of the green beans - the furthest thing from the typical strangled or limp greens found alongside pub steaks.
Top it all off with pepper, mushroom, tomato and chilli, red wine, or garlic butter sauce, to enjoy every bite of this perfect wither comfort meal. I’m always a mushroom fan, but if you feeling gourmet go for the garlic butter.
For $29.90, this lean cut is well worth the price. Pair it with a glass of red for a night of warmth and indulgence, cuddled up at the Shelter Bar.
