Holy smokes, guys. This is big. Massive. Huge. Behemoth, even.
Peddlers of contemporary Asian cuisine and ultra-cool cocktails, Rick Shores has been our go-to coastal bar for a minute now. With a stunning vantage point of breaking waves, literally as close to the water as you can get, we have spent many afternoons taking in the fluffy pink sunset and indulging in one-too-many cocktails. Seriously, it's our happy place.
So, when we heard that the team behind Rick Shores was making a move to the streets of Brisbane, we understandably gasped with delight. While the rumour mill has been working overtime for over a year now, the official announcement had us dreaming of dumplings, steamed buns, kimchi and more. *droooooool*
The aptly named 'Little Valley' is best described as a 'neo-Chinese dining hall', drawing inspiration from the rich diversity of Chinese cuisine. A culinary exploration of the various Chinese provinces and their traditional dishes, the restaurant & bar is a celebration of everything we love about Chinese food (no takeout box insight). The menu includes the likes of smoked pork with truffle congee, miso poached chicken with black fungu salad, cured scallop with spiced pumpkin seed and chilli oil, and so much more.
Like any good bar, they have also curated a stellar drinks menu. From the Silk Palace (Havana Club 7yo rum, orange blossom, coconut cream, vanilla and citrus) to the Bloodstone Emperor (Eagle Rare 10yo bourbon, coffee, Pedro Ximinez, morello cherry, walnut and bitters), their drinks are a dizzying adventure through contemporary Asian flavours.
The Valley newcomer is spearheaded by Andrew Hohns, Frank Li, David Flynn and Nick Woodward, each who have bought their own unique flair and attitude to the project. With high ceilings, industrial finishings and an expansive bar, we know that we'll be spending many evenings here...
