The Brisbane climate is 100 per cent designed for ice cream consumption, and so are Brisbanites. Post-dinner treat? Ice cream. Beach trip? Ice cream. Hot summer’s day? Ice cream.
Remember how you craved an Ekka strawberry sundae all year? How you were more keen for that sugary goodness than you were for the public holiday? Well, you’re not alone; an amazing 152,000 strawberry sundaes were sold this year across the 10 Ekka days. That key strawberry ice cream flavour is created by Brisbane dessert company Lick! Ice Cream, and they’re opening their first flagship store in Graceville on November 4, which means you get to indulge in your favourite ice cream flavours 365 days a year!
While the much-loved strawberry flavour will be taking up permanent residence in the dessert bar, a selection of 18 ice cream and sorbet flavours will also be up for licking at the new store. The classic favourites, such as macadamia praline, Oreo cookie and rum and raisin, will complement their newer, more unique flavours, including salted peanut and Redskin.
Keeping on-trend, Lick! Ice Cream will also launch their new dessert, featuring a unique and housemade doughnut/waffle hybrid and a Lick! Ice Cream sandwich, among other secret additions.
It has been a dream for Lick! Ice Cream owner Grant Lew to see the brand become a store for a long time now. “Graceville was chosen for Lick! Ice Cream’s flagship store because the beautiful suburb is very much supported by its community of families and professionals.
“The area has a great little dining strip with a local cinema nearby. It makes perfect sense to open Lick! Ice Cream in such a supportive environment,” he says.
If you’re not already flailing over the new Lick! Ice Cream Dessert Bar in Graceville, this may just send you over the edge: to celebrate their launch, they are hosting a two-for-one opening weekend (Saturday November 7 and Sunday November 8) offer on scoops in a cone or cup, as part of their “I Scream, You Scream” promotion. Squeal!
And while we all think we’ll look like this when the store opens…
Truth is we’ll actually look more like this…
