We’ve been bursting with excitement over the opening of The LC: Miami since we first heard about it, and guess what? The upmarket, cruelty-free marketplace has finally launched! Not only is it the Gold Coast’s first permanent plant-based marketplace, it’s also a nation first, with the venue open seven days a week, serving everything from breakfast to dinner and drinks, all of which is 100% vegan.

The 1000-square metre, two-level venue is certain to become a vibrant new hangout for even the most carnivorous of Gold Coasters, with its prominent position on the Gold Coast highway between Miami and Nobby Beach. Downstairs, five individually curated plant-based kitchens operate in a market-style setting. Picture a wooden decked seating area at the front, a feature breeze block wall and greenery-filled garden and a licensed back deck, complete with a bar serving sustainably-produced beers and cocktails and live music on weekends.

If you thought the possibilities of making food exclusively from plant-derived ingredients were limited, the LC Miami is here to prove you wrong – meat will be the last thing on your mind when grabbing a doughnut or baked good from Flour of Life Bakery or nourishing sandwich from Flora By Greenhouse for breakfast or lunch. Or when deciding between vegan-friendly ramen from I Like Ramen, exclusively vegan pizza and Italian gelato from Gigi’s Pizzeria or a plant-based kebab or cheesy burger from Burgers vs Kebabs. Trying to make a choice is too much stress for us – you can bet we’ll be trying them all, and going back for seconds.

As for who we have to thank for the thriving laneway and mindful eats? Look no further than local entrepreneur Abbey Jones, owner and operator of cruelty-free and vegan fashion boutique Lovechild Place, who set out to create a casual dining experience with day-and-night food options. Phase two, set to be completed just in time for spring, will see the boutique moving and expanding to the venue’s second storey, along with other yet-to-be-announced retailers.
