Katherine Sabbath: Queen of Cakes

Katherine Sabbath’s cake creations are just the sweetest things.

Over the past couple of years, Katherine has rapidly risen to Insta-fame, with more than 260,000 Instagram followers now lusting over her out-of-this-world creations.

Katherine first dipped her toes into the baking world while still in high school. During those teeth-cutting years, she enjoyed baking for friends and creating food that she loved to eat. After graduating, Katherine became a high school teacher and filled her weekends and spare time with culinary experiments. “It’s such a fantastic way to unwind,” Katherine says.

Teacher by day, cake-maker by night, it was a few years before Katherine decided it was time to take the leap and leave her teaching position to pursue the cake life full-time.

But Katherine hasn’t lost her love of teaching; she’s passionate about passing on her skills to others, frequently teaching culinary classes that she says are “highly creative yet relaxing and fun.” She says the classes are a “wonderful way to meet like-minded people who enjoy the simple and considerate gesture of creating something special for those they love.”

Katherine loves nature, drawing inspiration for her wondrous creations from the colours and textures in environmental landscapes such as Australia’s breathtaking Great Barrier Reef.
You might be wondering how a woman who makes such delicious desserts can be as slender as Katherine; she says regular exercise and lots of vegies are the key to keeping fit and healthy.

In a world of aloof Insta-celebs, Katherine’s modesty and humble attitude is refreshing, and she strives not to get caught up in her large Instagram following. “It’s quite overwhelming but I am so grateful there are so many people out there who enjoy following my creations as much as I enjoy making them,” says Katherine.
